Mi Band 7 Pro launch set alongside Xiaomi 12S series on July 4: details
The Mi Band 7 Pro is scheduled to launch on July 4 alongside the Xiaomi 12S series in China, the company has announced. The Chinese firm also revealed the design of the wearable, which will showcase a rectangular display dial — a first for Xiaomi’s fitness band lineup — via a clip. Details of the pro version are not known yet, but speculation is rife that the Mi Band 7 Pro could be an upgraded version of the Mi Smart Band 7 and Mi Smart Band 7 NFC that were launched last month.
Xiaomi Smart Ecosystem announced via its Weibo handle that the Mi Band 7 Pro will be launched on July 4 — the same day that Xiaomi’s 12S series will make its debut in China. The Mi Band 7 Pro will feature a rectangular display and the wearable is said to offer an advanced, professional sports and health monitoring experience (translated). An earlier report had claimed that the Pro model is expected to get GPS and a larger battery (possibly 250mAh) compared to the Mi Band 7’s 180mAh battery. The first reference reportedly appeared in the application code for the Mi Door Lock smart lock.
As mentioned, the Mi Band 7 Pro will be launching alongside the Xiaomi 12S series that consists of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, Xiaomi 12S Pro, and Xiaomi 12S smartphones. The teaser image of the launch event shared by CEO Lei Jun highlights the partnership between Xiaomi and Leica that was announced last month. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra will also be the world’s first smartphone to feature Sony’s latest IMX989 camera sensor.
The specifications of the Xiaomi 12S series have also been leaked multiple times in the past. All phones in the series are expected to come with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Speculations about the Xiaomi 12S Pro Dimensity Edition, powered by the chipmaker’s Dimensity 9000 SoC, have been doing the rounds on the internet.
