Arthur had already been in prison for 10 years when a friend introduced the two to each other.

They began exchanging letters and calling each other daily, until they finally met in person six months later.

Six months later, Arthur proposed to her and the two were married shortly after.

The couple already have a one-year-old child, Zion, and are now expecting their second child.

Monique also has two other children from a previous relationship.

Due to the laws in their native California, Monique is sometimes allowed to stay overnight with Arthur in prison.

Speaking to Truly TV, she said: “I planned the visit around my ovulation and sure enough, it worked.

“We just found out we’re pregnant again. So number four is on the way.”

Arthur’s release is scheduled for 2053, but Monique hopes he will be released sooner.

She said: “His first release date is in 2033, so there’s a good chance he’ll come home.”

I spent £60,000 on my husband when he was in prison – people say he uses me but I know it’s real love

Monique says that her family members have doubts about the relationship.

She said, “They think I’ll get used to it when he comes home.”

“Some family members disagree because they know the victim’s family.”

How does a conjugal visit proceed?

A conjugal visit is a scheduled period during which a prisoner is allowed to spend several hours or days in private with a visitor, usually his or her spouse.

The purpose of these visits is to maintain family ties and increase the chances of success when the prisoner returns to normal life.

It also serves as an incentive for prisoners to adhere to the daily rules of the prison.

Conjugal visits often take place in a mobile home or small cabin.

They are currently not permitted for prisoners in the UK.

Monique added that she has also received a lot of online hate from internet trolls, but she doesn’t let that deter her.

She said: “I really don’t care what judgement I get because I’m so in love with Arthur and so involved with him – nothing they say matters.”

The mother of four added that her own mother had also had relationships with men behind bars, something she admitted she never understood as a child.

She told her mother, “I really didn’t like it at the time and I didn’t understand it.

“I think when I was younger I always wondered why you were in prison with someone. I thought you belonged with someone who treated you the way you should be treated.”

However, Monique has no reason to worry about her mother’s previous relationships.

She said, “It’s the best relationship I’ve ever had.

“To those who judge our relationship, I would say: Don’t judge a book by its cover.”
