A heroic father of three told his children to go out of their burning house before he collapsed his wounds after their house caught fire in Texas.
Firefighters were able to pull Troy Scheffman, 57, from Princeton, from his burning house on Monday morning around 2 am, but not before he told his three adult children: “You all get out!”
Scheffman had instructed his daughter to break the window of the double -wide trailer to get her brothers out.
“She literally pulled out her younger brothers,” Fr. Eugene Okoli told NBC Dallas, referring to Scheffman's daughter.
The three brother or sister could crawl through the window. Unfortunately, Scheffman was not that happy.
“Troy was left behind to remove the pets, but he didn't make it,” Paul Scrivano, a family friend, told Fox 4 News.
Firefighters could take Scheffman out and take him to an McKinney hospital, where he later died.
His wife was out of the city when the fire broke out, according to local points of sale.
Scheffman is remembered because of his generous services to the community and his big heart.

Scheffman was part of the Knights of Columbus and also offered himself to Streetside Showerers monthly, where he would cook meals for homeless people.
“Troy was one of my chefs and I lost count of the number of meals he has prepared for street showers,” said Mike Hanson, also a knight, in an explanation for Streetside shower shower.
