Ubisoft insists Star Wars Outlaws will not be delayed after graphics criticism
Ubisoft has defended itself for the Star Wars Bandits graphical criticism and said it wouldn’t slow down the game.
IGN published 10 minutes from Star Wars Bandits gameplay earlier this week, ahead of the August 30th launch, showing playable protagonist Kay Vess on a mission to the desert planet Tatooine.
However, the gameplay has since received some criticism, mainly due to the graphics, framerate drops, animations and effects, resulting in the video receiving over 13,000 dislikes compared to just 8,000 likes according to the official version. GamesRadar.
“The game itself looks cool, but… doesn’t it look terribly unfinished for a game coming out in August?” one user asked in the comments.
Another wrote: “Why do the graphics look so bad and the particle effect is so bad?”[s] to an explosion, and Kay’s face?”
In the last Ubisoft Q1 FY2025 Sales CallWhen asked about the possibility of the publisher delaying the game following criticism of its gameplay, Ubisoft CFO Frederick Duguet said, “The game is now gold, so the date is final: August 30th.”
“Soon we will see more very high-quality content and multiple hours of playtime that really shows the depth of the open world. This is a key element of the promise to enjoy the exploration of the multi-planet galaxy. That should bode well for the game in terms of high quality.”
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot then defends the images and graphics, adding that he is convinced of the quality of the final product.
“As we said with Star Wars, the quality of the world and the experience is really high,” he said. “We’re really leveraging our engine, and I think people are going to love it.”
Star Wars Bandits will be released next month on August 30, 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
