When I read the theme clue here, I was excited about a complex Strands puzzle that required some out-of-the-box thinking. What could “S-words? (a groundbreaking theme!)” mean? Did all the answers start with an S… but the S was missing? Were they all words that had a synonym that started with an S? Something even more devilish? But no, they were all just types of swords. Shame.
That became clear once I found CLAYMORE, after I spotted CLAY and realized I could extend it. After that it was a matter of searching my brain and the board for other BLADES (as the spangram would call it), which wasn’t a particularly taxing task.
How was your day? Send me an email and let me know.
