My Bridezilla Friend Made Guests Cry & Ruined Her Wedding – She Sent Us a Bill
DESPITE the fact that they never tied the knot, one bride made sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the room
The bridezilla caused a stir when she wore her own weddingcaused some of her guests to cry and demanded that her friends pay her back when the ceremony was canceled.
In a Reddit afterUser Lrhun explained how her former friend managed to burn all bridges with her family, friends and fiancé on her big day.
She gave some background on the situation, saying that her friend had already accused one of her bridesmaids of being pregnant when she refused to drink.
When the flower girl was unable to attend the ceremony due to chicken pox, the bride-to-be was distraught.
The Redditor user recalls working outside the bridal suite so she could avoid her friend as much as possible on the morning of the wedding.
She described the bridesmaid, the groom’s sister, as someone who “deserved a medal” for her patience.
“All day [the bride] had constant outbursts of anger,” the poster said.
“She made people cry, [including] wedding staff and bridesmaids.”
When the bride asked for some time to herself, her bridesmaids were more than happy to grant it.
But as the ceremony drew closer, the bride was nowhere to be seen.
Eventually, the bridesmaid informed the other bridesmaids that the wedding was off.
She revealed that the bride was caught by the groom having a quick fling with his uncle before walking down the aisle.
The groom canceled the wedding and the Reddit user, bridesmaids and guests left the venue.
That evening, the poster said, she received a phone call from the disgruntled ex-bride asking her to pay for part of the day’s expenses.
“According to [the bride]“It was our duty as the bridal party to pay her cancellation fees,” she wrote.
In addition to the £3,860 bill, the bride also indicated she was looking for a place to sleep.
The Reddit user declined her former friend’s request and stopped contacting her.
She added that the bride had previously asked her bridesmaids to pay more than £1,500 each for their dresses.
The Redditor explained that the former bride now has four lawsuits pending against her, including one from the bridesmaids who paid for the dresses.
Her ex-fiancé was also in the process of suing her for the money he lost that day.
Reddit users shared their thoughts on the chaotic situation in the comments.
“Holy rusty metal, Batman. That’s one crazy ride! She has nerve demanding help paying the cancellation fee for her f**k up. Wow. Just wow,” wrote one reader.
“LMFAO, INCREDIBLE! I am so amused by the audacity of bridezillas. It never ceases to amaze me,” said another.
“OMG I would love to see this made into a movie or short film,” a third Reddit user commented.
“How the hell did you all become friends with this woman!? She sounds like a walking nightmare,” another reader said.
How to Throw a Bachelor Party That Isn’t Too Expensive
Let’s face it, while it’s exciting to be added to a ‘Hen do WhatsApp’, it can also come with a sense of dread as you don’t know how much you’re going to end up spending. According to Bridesbook, the average cost per guest for a hen party in the UK is between £370 – £640.
Luckily, if you’re planning on having one, there are ways to keep your chicken costs down, according to Fabulous journalist Becky Pemberton…
- Create an affordable budget in advance and don’t go overboard! Price things as you plan so you can keep track of what it’s all going to cost.
- Do it yourself as much as you can. You guys might be able to save money with your group instead of buying everything new. Does anyone have some leftover but practically new decorations from another bachelorette party that they can bring? Maybe you could make some fun signs instead of buying everything new.
- Think of a one-day event. While a whole weekend with your best friends sounds perfect, the most expensive part of an event is often the accommodation. Could you find a way to create one incredible dream day, instead of dragging it out? More often than not, you’ll still have just as much fun and wake up hungover in your own bed.
- Plan cheaper activities. You don’t have to break the bank to have a good time. Consider hosting your own DIY bottomless brunch, themed party, home spa day, or fancy meal where everyone contributes their own dish.
- Host free games. Why not throw in some fun games that don’t cost a dime? Mr. and Mrs. are completely free and are a great way to feature the groom. Scavenger hunts, mini-Olympics, and couples quizzes can also be fun if done right.
- Include all chickens. Is there someone in the group who has a knack for crafts or baking? Asking people to help decorate or provide treats can help keep your expenses down. You can also play to the group’s strengths by having someone who can host a wine tasting or yoga class for free.
Hamish Herder, Bridalbook.com founder, added: “Consider heading to Brighton, Bristol, Manchester or Liverpool for an affordable UK hen party, or Lisbon for some international sunshine!
“Also try to avoid booking your stag or hen party during school holidays or long bank holiday weekends as this is when flights and accommodation will be at their most expensive!”
