A criminal who launched a horror attack on a police officer and left him unconsciously on the sidewalk was imprisoned.
PC Nathan Attwell had responded to reports of an 'aggressive and intoxicated man' in CWMBRAN, Zuid -Wales, when he found the drunk Richard Nodwell.
After being confronted, the criminal launched a brutal attack on PC Attwell, leaving him a broken eye socket, broken cheekbot and broken nose.
Bodycam images of the violence, which unfolded on December 20, shows the police officer who initially begs the suspect to “show me your hands” to which Nodwell, who has previous convictions, answers: “Don't touch me, don't touch my personal body!”
PC Attwell, which comments on the video released by the Gwent police and then describes how he threatened to use his 'spray' to have the suspect pay.
Now that the grinning Nodwell is becoming furious increasingly furious, PC Attwell tries to take the hands of the criminal, that is when the criminal throws his first right hook.
While the police officer falls to the ground, the furious criminal continues his attack and throws bumps with both hands to the officer who yums on the floor.
Eventually, after throwing at least 12 strokes in a heartless attack that lasted about 50 seconds, Nodwell fled the stage and left his victim unconscious.

But the criminal was found a short time later by two police officers he also attacked – spitting on one and the other corrosive.
Nodwell was immediately arrested by the Gwent police on suspicion of section 18 -and two counts of attacking a care provider before being charged later.
After he had committed guilty, the criminal was convicted of Cardiff Crown Court to six years and four months in prison with an extended license of three years.
PC Attwell, who is doing well in his recovery, remembers that he was unable to sleep after the abuse for fear that he would not wake up.
“If you become a member of the police service, there is a stigma that you sometimes have to tolerate with abuse, whether screaming, cursing, spitting or kicking,” he said.
'However, nobody goes to work to attack, especially if they just try to help someone.
'The night of the attack I was afraid to go to sleep in case I didn't wake up.
“Why is it that people like Nodwell think it's OK to attack police officers and not to expect consequences for this?”

“Nobody goes to work to attack, especially if they just try to help someone,” said the policeman
Chief Constable Mark Hobrough of the Gwent police said in a statement after Nodwell's conviction: 'I would like to command Nathan for the brave about this terrible attack that affected him, his family, the wider community and all of us with the Gwent police.
'Our officers, including Nathan, are more than their uniform – they are members of our community, they are parents, brothers and sisters and friends who love and are loved.
'They come to work to make a difference and will be there during your time of need. Just as you would not expect that you will be attacked while performing your work, they would not have to.
'Regardless of what you think of the police, our officers will and danger themselves without hesitation. Too often I see the devastating impact that these attacks have on police officers and other emergency services.
'Nodwell will now be behind bars for a considerable time, he is a dangerous man with previous convictions, and I am happy that he no longer lives in our community.
“Let this be a lesson for those who think it's OK to attack emergency workers, we will take action and you will be held responsible.”
