A mother in North Carolina was killed next to her 15-year-old child by her older son days after she had celebrated his release from prison, the police claim.
Da'ron Donta Jenkins, 25, from Wilson, is accused of two counts of murder in the calls of his mother, Dana and little brother, Daryn.
He was released from prison on 25 March on 25 March after more than three years behind bars with regard to a series of other violations, including Break and Enter and Larceny.
In an emotional Facebook message on the day of Da'ron's release, Dana thanked God for the freedom of her son.
“My baby at home,” she wrote. 'My MF [sic] Baby!! My baby is at home !! Lord I thx u. '
She was flooded with supporting messages from loved ones who said they were happy for her family prior to the reunion.
“Welcome Home, Big D,” said one friend, while another celebrated her announcement as “great news.”
But at 5.30 pm on Monday, the police responded to a call on Snowden Drive. When they arrived, they found the two bodies, dead, in the house.
Da'ron is held in the Wilson County prison without bond and has his first performance in court with regard to the charges on Tuesday.

Dana's cousin Juanilla Kornegay told ABC11 that the family staggered from the tragic loss.
“I would never have thought,” she said. “I would never have thought he would do something like that.”
Kornegay said her cousin was a 'very nice … Dear person [who] Always laughs. '
“I can see her smiling now. She always smiled. She went to work and came home. She took care of her youngest son. '
She said it “really tricky” and hurt her to think that Da'ron had just walked out of prison when he reportedly killed his family.
“I still don't get over it,” she said. “It's going to take a while.”
Prior to his charges of 2021 for which he was most recently in custody, Da'ron was also convicted in September 2020 for violating a protection order and violation.

One lover said even if she couldn't go to church, she would make sure that Daryn was there, “drop him in [her] nightwear. '

Bishop Sherman Blandon in their local Mount Moriah Community Church said that Daryn was in church every Sunday and played music.
He said that both mother and son were 'happy' with smiles who were contagious and 'would relieve a room'.
The church later issued a statement about the monumental loss and wrote on Instagram: 'MMCC-Wilson suffered a heartbreaking loss in our church family. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved brother, Daryn Cox.
“His presence and his joy will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. Please keep his family and our MMCC-Wilson family in your prayers while we navigate through this difficult time.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support that has already been shown, and we appreciate each of you before standing with us in this season of sorrow.”
The Wilson police say that the investigation into the double murder is underway and that members of the community encourage information to come forward.
