KFC announces the return of Australia’s most requested burger to the menu – but it has a VERY surprising twist
KFC Australia is bringing back the Double, but this time with a sweet, breakfasty twist.
The new waffle double will launch across Australia on June 11 – and like its predecessors, it’s expected to be a big hit.
The one-piece feast includes two pieces of the Colonel’s chicken as “rolls,” like every version of the Double before it.
But what makes the new Double different is the Smokey Maple Mayo and the fluffy waffle, combined with bacon to top it all off.
The KFC team is also busy launching the Original Double, now with the new Original Crispy fillets, and bringing back the crowd-puller Zinger Double.

Tami Cunningham, CMO at KFC Australia, revealed that the Double remains one of the company’s most requested menu items.
“We’re sure fans will rush to get their hands on the new Waffle Double and Original Double, in addition to the returning Zinger Double. However, this triple threat won’t last forever, so mark the date in the calendar and get on with it,” she said.
The Double has not been seen nationally since 2021.
Since 2011 it has been back on the menu with crazy twists – exciting KFC customers – popular versions include the Zinger Mozzarella Double to the Pizza Double and Zinger Tower Double.
The new Double range is available at participating stores until July 8.
