A drug dealer has admitted that he killed a seven-year-old boy and a man in the thirty in a horror explosion that tore flats through a block.

The explosion tore through six properties in the terraced street of Violet Close in Benwell, Newcastle, in the early hours of October 16.

Little Archie York died on the spot, while the body of Jason Laws, 35, was later discovered under rubble.

Reece Galbraith, 33, today pleaded two accusations of manslaughter to the Crown Court in Newcastle.

Galbraith, Van Gateeshead, also admitted a controlled drug, Cannabis, to be produced and delivered between November 1, 2023 and 17 October 2024 about the range of a controlled drug, Cannabis, between November 1, 2023 and 17 October 2024.

Judge Paul Sloan KC postponed the case until 14 May and said that the court will then consider whether Galbraith is 'dangerous'.

Spiderman Teddies and balloons were tied to handrails for the little boy.

Friends and family also left a tribute for Mr Laws, known as Jay.

A total of 140 inhabitants from their houses were evacuated in the night of the explosion.

Since then, the demolition work has started with the most damaged properties.

Some residents have been able to return home, while others were moved to different municipal property and some are temporary accommodation while repairs are being carried out.
