New Pixel 9 Pro XL leak hints at specs of third Pixel 9 model
Google is gearing up to unveil the Pixel 9 series at its next launch event on August 13, and a new leak has given us more information on some of the specs of a third model that Google is apparently introducing this year.
Alongside the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, we suspect there will also be a Pro XL model this time around. It could be the most expensive phone of the trio, and photos of the handset have been posted on the XDA Forums (through 9to5Google).
Google has already shown us what the Pixel 9 Pro will look like. It looks like this phone will be the same, only bigger. Thanks to information on the device’s screen, some specs may have been revealed along with the appearance.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL will reportedly come with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, at least in one configuration. Samsung’s Exynos 5400 modem is also listed, which just so happens to support satellite connectivity – a feature that’s rumored to be coming with Android 15. It’s likely that this modem will be built into the other Pixel 9 models as well.
More RAM than ever
For comparison, the Google Pixel 8 offers 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. The Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, has 12GB of RAM and is available with up to 1TB of internal storage.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL, if accurate, would be the first phone in the Pixel series to come with 16GB of RAM – perhaps to allow for some extra AI tricks. It’s unclear whether the other Pixel 9 phones will also come with 16GB of RAM.
All four Pixel models coming out next month, including the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the successor to the Google Pixel Fold, have already appeared in regulatory filings, so at this point, Google can’t reveal much on August 13.
We’ll of course be bringing you all the announcements as they come in, and Google will also be livestreaming the event. We might also see the Google Pixel Watch 3 debut at the same event, which is taking place earlier in the year than usual – the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel Watch 2 were revealed in October of last year.
