People say my baby’s name is an ‘instant no’ when you say it out loud

SOME people spend years coming up with the perfect name for their future children, because they want to make sure it’s something they’ll enjoy for the rest of their lives.

But one father said his daughter’s name reminded him of something else — and now he can’t forget it.

Although the couple chose a relatively common name for their daughter, he couldn’t get used to the combination of that name and the middle name.

He wrote on Reddit, “We loved the name ‘Aurora Sara,’ with Aurora being her first name and Sara (pronounced ‘sawr-uh’) being her middle name.”

The father explained that he and his partner wanted an American-sounding first name and a Turkish middle name for the little one.

And while the couple was more than happy with their choice, the father soon realized that the names sounded a little strange when said together.

He said: “I noticed, though, that depending on how you pronounce her first and middle name together, it sounds like some kind of dinosaur, like ‘Aurorasaurus’ or ‘Aurorasar.’

“Am I overthinking it, or should we come up with a different first/middle name?”

“My wife got annoyed when I brought it up, although it may have something to do with the fact that I started imitating the Jurassic Park theme after I said ‘Aurorasaurus,’” he continued.

But it turns out the father wasn’t the only one who thought the combination of names resembled a dinosaur.

“It took you one minute to think of that. Your child’s classmates will surely outdo you with those and other names,” one said, warning the father.

Another agreed that the names are “beautiful” on their own, but that in combination they “sound fucking clunky, even if they don’t make her sound like a dinosaur, which they absolutely do.”

“You can’t do that to your child, I’m begging you to change it. It sounds like a disease too,” said someone else.

But some people thought the father was thinking about it too much.

“No, it’s not tragic,” someone said, “I really like Aurora.

“Furthermore, few people use their middle names outside of official documents, so Arorasauras may remain a little family Easter egg.”

“It’s actually not that bad, I would never have thought of it myself and I don’t understand why anyone else would,” said another.

But that’s not the only baby name that’s caused a stir online lately. A mother recently faced criticism after it emerged that she named her baby after a celebrity and a brand of crackers.

The woman shared on Reddit that her mother came up with an original name for her sister by combining the name of her favorite actress with a brand of cheese snacks.

The woman said: “My mom named my sister after Cheez-Its and a celebrity.

“My sister’s name is Cheezka.

“She’s named after an actress called ‘Francesca’ and because my mom’s friend gave her a box of Cheez-Its as a baby shower gift.”

Cheez-Its is a brand of American cheese-flavored crackers.

The post was flooded with responses from Reddit users, many of whom were shocked by the unique name.

Someone said, “Literally one of the worst names I’ve ever heard in my life.”

Are Unique Baby Names Worth It?

Fabulous’ deputy editor-in-chief talks about the problems she had with her name as a child.

As a child, I wanted nothing more than a personalized keychain with my name on it.

But it wasn’t. The closest I could get were Rosie, Joseph (not so nice for such a little girl) and Joanne.

Josie is short for Josephine, a French first name, and I’ve been in my twenties without ever meeting anyone with the same first name.

When I try to introduce myself to people I get called all sorts of random names like Tracey and Stacey and it can be quite annoying.

Although I’ve met a few Josies in the past year (there are a few around my age), it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends’ names.

Overall I don’t mind it, at least it’s not crude or spelled weird.

And that means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just calling myself Josie.

I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my last name. It’s not considered cool or feminist these days. I explain to them that I’m not that attached to Griffiths because I always just say ‘Hi, I’m Josie’ when I call a friend.

I like being unique and I will definitely try to achieve this when naming my own children.

You have to watch out for the crude names, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist I will definitely avoid them.
