Instant karma for an enraged driver who punches a motorist through the window of his van – but then gets a taste of his own medicine when his victim gets out and makes himself look much bigger before slamming him to the ground
An angry motorist who stormed out of his car to confront a bus driver was knocked to the ground by his larger opponent.
The brawl was captured on dashcam footage after the two came to blows in the middle of the day after hitting each other at a motorway roundabout.
The video was taken by lorry driver Darren Waite, who was forced to act as peacemaker when warring drivers threatened to let their anger get the better of them on the M58 junction near Wigan on July 5.
Dashcam footage of the 50-year-old shows a white van taking the wrong lane at a roundabout two weeks ago, then changing lanes to avoid having to get back on the highway.
A white car tries to get into position, until it makes a dramatic turn and appears to ‘ram’ the van, sending both vehicles into the verge.

The incident began after the van appeared to take the wrong lane at the roundabout, before they appeared to meet as they merged into the same lane as the car. The car then swerved sharply in front of the van, causing them both to end up on the grass verge
The driver of the car then gets out of his vehicle and shouts through his window at the driver of the van
The car driver sees ‘red mist’ and starts throwing ‘punches’ through the van driver’s window. Eventually the driver gets out and the two start fighting on the road.
The burly bus driver quickly knocks his opponent to the ground with three punches, then grabs him by the legs and kicks him.
He doesn’t stop until Darren jumps out of his truck to separate the two and ask them to exchange information, which he says they never did.
Instead, the driver of the car is seen delivering one final blow through the window of the van, before the van drives away, ignoring the red light.
Father-of-five Darren, who was dropping off a lorry at his depot, admitted he ‘just wanted to get home’ after a week away from work and ‘didn’t fancy’ being caught up in the brawl.
He says a child of nine or 10 years old, who he believes is the son of the driver of the car, even cried in the passenger seat during the brawl.
Facebook users sided with the van driver, who appeared to be winning the fight, criticizing the hatchback driver as a “total idiot” for ramming him off the road.
They joked that ‘the guy who started it didn’t finish it’ and another said ‘Red Mist has a lot of explaining to do’.
The driver of the van then opens his door and confronts the other motorist after being shouted at
The couple then walks towards each other as they continue to exchange words about the incident
The couple then swings towards each other as traffic continues to pass them on the roundabout
The bigger man then forces the car driver to the ground as the fight continues
He then grabs the driver’s legs and pulls them up into the air
The fight ended when truck driver Darren Waite stepped out of his cab to stop the pair
Darren, from Wigan, Greater Manchester, said: ‘It was shocking to see because you see these things online but you never expect to be there in person.
‘I thought the van had driven towards the car, but when I watched the video you could see the car flipping over quite violently.
‘The man in the car jumped straight at the driver of the van and started punching through the window.
‘The driver of the van got out, they started fighting and then rolled around.
‘I’ve been working away all week and I just wanted to get home. I didn’t feel like being stuck behind these two, so I went out to break it up.
‘The man in the car was shocked when he saw how big he was. The driver of the van definitely won.
‘The man in the white car had his little boy in the car. He was about nine or ten years old and he was crying.
‘It could have ended worse, someone could have been run over.’
Darren says he did not report the incident to police and has not heard from the motorists since giving them his phone number at the scene.
A friend of Darren posted the video to Facebook on Friday, July 12, and it has since received over 160 reactions and 40 comments.
One of them remarked, “The man who started it didn’t finish it.”
A second said: ‘Red Mist has a lot of explaining to do.’
A third wrote: ‘What was that guy in pink doing? He literally caused the accident and then got beat up for acting tough.’
A fourth added: ‘I’m sorry to sound mean here but ANYONE who just ran me off the road for a simple lane change mistake I would have kicked the crap out of.
“You can’t run someone off the road and expect not to get hit. It’s that simple.”
A fifth simply said: ‘The driver looks like a complete idiot.’
