You can now try custom GPTs for free via ChatGPT

ChatGPT users can now expect a new feature update from OpenAI. The artificial intelligence (AI) company has begun rolling out access to GPTs, mini-chatbots designed for a specific purpose, globally. Even those on the free version of ChatGPT can interact with these chatbots and use them for specific tasks. The company’s GPT Store has a large number of chatbots that can help users with writing, productivity, research and analysis, programming, or simply conversations in specific styles. Several software companies have also created and published brand-specific GPTs.

OpenAI Expands GPTs to All Users

Before OpenAI’s Spring Update event earlier this month, GPTs were a premium feature accessible only to the platform’s paying subscribers. However, during the event, the company announced that these chatbots would soon be available to everyone. Gadgets 360 was finally able to access GPTs via the GPT Store on Thursday. The feature should be rolling out to all users globally in the coming days.

There is one caveat, however. While free ChatGPT users can access and interact with GPTs, they cannot create new chatbots. The ability to create new GPTs with text prompts and optionally with a specific database has not been extended to the free tier.

It should be noted that GPTs are not general conversational chatbots like ChatGPT. They are often limited in scope and cannot answer a wide range of questions. However, users can get more accurate answers because they behave like small language models.

Interesting GPTs to use

While there’s a large catalog to choose from, we came across a few interesting options that you can try. The first is Adobe Express by Adobe, which can design social posts, flyers, and more using Adobe Express. The chatbot can also generate images with specific text requests. Khan Academy’s Tutor Me chatbot is another handy tool. It can help users with math, science, and humanities homework assignments by helping them with the problems instead of solving them for them.

Other interesting GPTs are Canva, Code Copilot, Cartoonize Yourself, and also Data Analyst and Planty from OpenAI. So far we haven’t encountered any restrictions on interaction with these GPTs, but we can’t confirm their absence either.
