The family of an Australian man who is confronted with the death penalty in Bali accused of smuggling cocaine to the holiday island has called in the help of a powerful ‘fixer’.

Business manager Lamar Ahchee, 43, originally from Cairns, was arrested last week of receiving two drug deliveries from the UK while lived on the Indonesian island.

The cocaine was reportedly hidden in two Golden Lindt chocolate boxes, each containing 54 individual packages of the medicine, with 8.3 grams in each wrapped.

On Monday morning the mother and sister of Ahchee broke cover in Bali shortly after being accompanied by the police in handcuffs to the headquarters of the Bali police, where he met Australian consulate officials.

The family was accompanied by the police headquarters by a controversial ‘fixer’ who worked to help Schapelle Corby out of prison.

‘Prison Whisperer’ and former police officer John McLeod runs consultancy Tora Solutions, who helps to hold Australians who are confronted with legal problems abroad.

Earlier he helped to get Corby from the infamous Kerobokan prison of Bali, where Ahchee could spend a lot of time if they were convicted.

McLeod also helped with the release of Aussie Academic Kylie Moore-Gilbert from Iran in 2021.

Outside the police headquarters, Mr. McLeod described the situation as very confronting and painful for the Ahchee family and did not comment any further.

The Ahchee family kept silent.

Earlier, Ahchee was taken from detention to the police headquarters to talk to consulate officials. He was wearing an orange jumpsuit and a black ski mask.

Ahchee is confronted with a death sentence after the police inspector General Daniel Adityajaya claimed that the drugs arrived in Indonesia on 12 May.

The second was reportedly sent from Braintree, 35 km north of Runwell, to ‘Dave Jones’ in the same Balinese region.

The next day, the police claim that Ahchee asked a driver to collect the packages of the post office.

They met in a restaurant on May 22 and the Australian businessman would return the packages to Canggu.

Ahchee was arrested by the Bali Drug Squad and is said to have suffered several injuries while opposing arrest.

The police would have seized 1.8 kg of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $ 1.1 million

The quantity is sufficient to justify the death penalty under Indonesian law.

The police claim that Ahchee received 50 million Indonesian Rupiah, about a $ 4700, to receive and distribute the drugs.

Ahchee grew up with football in Cairns but moved to the well-to-do east of Sydney, lived in a unit of $ 1.5 million in Bellevue Hill and worked as a VIP manager at Marquee and later Casablanca night clubs.

He had moved to Bali in 2019, where his online professional profiles reveal that he worked as a director and co-founder of technology groups.

He had previously worked for marketing companies with strong ties with the nightlife in both Sydney and Bali.

In 2015 he was director of Marketing and Events in Sydney Seadeck, a $ 5 million party boat that is popular with glamorous Sydney Socialites and organized crime figures.

According to his LinkedIn profile, he was also a co-founder behind the rope.

Improved social media photos show that Ahchee smiled alongside Buxom Bachelor -participant Bali -Influencer Kiki Morris.

Morris became known at the Richie Strahan season of The bachelor in 2016, and returned to the franchise Bachelor in Paradise in 2020.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Trade has confirmed that it provides consular assistance to an Australian in Bali.

One of Ahchee’s lawyers told reporters last week that his client was ‘very upset and stressed’ in the prospect that he could face the death penalty if he is found guilty.

He called on the police to detect the person who reportedly set up his client.

Another of his lawyers Sieny Karmana said that He did ‘okay’ behind bars.

“The family now knows that he is at the headquarters of Bali and about the situation that happened to him,” said Mrs. Karmana.

Mrs. Karmana denied that Ahchee was a drug dealer, but said he was a drug user.

“There is no explanation that he is a drug dealer, but he is a user,” she said.

Matthew Norman, Martin Stephens, Si Yi Chen, Scott Rush and Michael Czugahj flew back to Australia during a commercial flight from Jetstar in December last year.

The Aussies were arrested alongside Andrew Chan, Myuran Sukumaran, Tan Duc Thanh Nguyen and Renae Lawrence in Bali in April 2005.

Ringleaders Chan and Sukumaran were executed by Firing Squad in April 2015.

Stephens’ former cell mate Nguyen died in a hospital in Jakarta in 2018 after a fight against cancer.

Lawrence, who was the only member who was not a death sentence or the life behind bars, was released in 2018 after her sentence was reduced to 20 years.

The group tried to smuggle 8.3 kg of heroin from their bodies from the holiday island.
