It is a huge week before the Derby – the English Greyhound Derby!

We went to the last twelve in the spectacular knockout competition of Towcester, won by Legends of the Sport in Mick the Miller, Rapid Ranger and Westmead Hawk.

The latter remains the most extraordinary greyhound, I am sure I will ever see it. Intelligence of Einstein! He blew me away.

I was lucky to present at many Greyhound Derbys in the old days of Sky Sports Greyhounds. Miss that show produced by Lee Irvine and his team. It was always so nice.

However, times will continue and the semi -final of 2025 will take place this Saturday, with the final on June 14.

Towcester has done everything to promote the event sponsored by Starsports, with reduced tickets, entertainment and competitions that are abundant from round 1. You can always view all the details and deals on Greyhoundracinguk.com.

Actually, while I remember, when you go to tickets.greyhounddracinguk.com And use my code chappers20 You get a 20% discount for the semi -final!

It just feels like the buzz is back with the Greyhound Derby.

As with all Knock outputs, there have been upset on the way.

That was last Saturday in the quarterfinals.

Let’s look back at what happened during the weekend.

In the first quarter of the last cheap sandwiches, one of the large Ante-post fantasies, made everything from Trap 5.

He gathered well in the house when he was somewhat challenged by Droopys Bookem.

The latter had a solo around the first corner on the inside and had every chance.

To be honest, cheap sandwiches are more shrimp and mayo than cheese and pickles.

The second quarter went to defending champion De Lahdedah, who came in second place from stairs 3 behind the sizzling early pace of Churchfield Syd and struck the final second place.

It was a determined effort but far from sparkling.

The time of that quarter was 28.82S, compared to 28.67 of cheap sandwiches that made a backup of the view of the naked eye.

Dynamic Force was electric, so that everything in the 3rd quarterly final always turned out to be strong for a strong fancy bombay pat. The latter had no apologies and looked a bit tired. A time of 28.66s was excellent.

Then the big shock. Ante-post Favorite Bockos Diamond missed the break before showing a blind pace to get it upright.

The effort was too much. He got tired in the final phase and was picked up by Slick Sentinel and Dropys Plunge.

Slick Sentinel did well, while he pinged, went on his way and then met.

But time was only average in 28.87, which suggested that it was all a bit of a mess. However, Bockos Diamond survived!

The draw is everything for the semi -final. My opinion is that Churchfield Syd was absolutely plotted in stairs 6 for the first semifinal.

I can’t see how he doesn’t get clear and he was brilliant from the front in the second round.

The Lahdedah (stairs 2) will pick him up when he becomes from Sole Mio and and Droopys Bookem, but that is a big if you consider your worst start in the competition so far, from the Blue Box.

The second semifinal looks much more complicated.

But cheap sandwiches can easily make everything from stairs 5. The management is here for the taking, unless, of course, Dynamic Force comes out as he did in the quarters.

It is difficult to know how he will respond to stairs 4.

The problem also tries to guess how Bockos Diamond goes from stairs 6. A quick start makes him dangerous. Very dangerous. But he is not always electric from the boxes.

All in all, Churchfield Syd and the Lahdedah are the best positioned Greyhounds to reach the final.

But they come from a slow quarter final. It is such a great mystery to go up and tackle a grip.

But that is the beauty of the Greyhound Derby. And it is perfectly positioned with 6 wind dogs established in the UK and 6 Irish wind dogs in the mix.

Hopefully, hopefully you will understand that the Greyhound Derby 2025 promises a lot.
