Pop star Dua Lipa defiantly told The Mail on Sunday yesterday: ‘I don’t mime’ after fans accused her of lip-syncing during her headlining set at Glastonbury.
It was the 28-year-old’s dream to play the world-famous Pyramid stage. But her performance in front of tens of thousands of fans on Friday was plagued by accusations that she did not actually sing on stage.
However, when our reporter found her in the VIP area yesterday, she brushed off the criticism.
“I don’t mime,” the Grammy Award winner said as she toasted her headline success with her actor boyfriend Callum Turner, 34, at an exclusive bar on the festival grounds at Worthy Farm.
The couple were seen hugging after arriving from their luxury hotel 10 miles from Glastonbury.

She was dressed in a white top with a black skirt and carried a £1,600 crystal-encrusted Prada bag. She paired the look with chunky black boots.
The singer was accused of lip-synching on Friday night by those watching the BBC’s coverage of the festival.
“Imagine paying all that money to go to Glastonbury and standing there watching Dua Lipa miming the song and not even singing it. How bad,” said one.
Another wrote online: ‘Dua Lipa delivers a Top of the Pops mime set’.
On X, formerly Twitter, someone wrote: ‘It’s a shame #DuaLipa can’t sing live. Don’t show up for glasto and mime. Nonsense.’
Another said: ‘Dua Lipa has some pretty catchy songs but I’m pretty sure she’s lip-syncing. Sounds like a live vocal but I’m just not convinced she’s singing it live “right now”.’
According to well-informed sources, the claim about the mime artist is incorrect.
During Ms Lipa’s performance, there were numerous large Palestinian flags so close to the stage that they were visible on both the large screens in the hall and on the BBC coverage.
Earlier, the singer urged world leaders to help de-escalate the crisis in Gaza and Israel.
Although she didn’t directly comment on the war during her performance, which featured hits like Levitating, she appeared to run toward the audience to sing closer to a flag that read “Glasto for Palestine.”

During Ms. Lipa’s performance, numerous large Palestinian flags were placed so close to the stage that they could be seen on the screens and in the BBC broadcasts.
Last month, she posted a message on Instagram to her 88 million followers: “Please show your solidarity with Gaza.”
‘Burning children alive can never be justified. The whole world is mobilizing to stop the Israeli genocide. Please show your solidarity with Gaza,” she wrote on Instagram.
Many viewers were captivated by the singer’s two-hour performance at Glastonbury, calling her performance “magical” on social media.
‘Smashed it dua lipa’ and ‘Dua Lipa is actually pretty good. I only know One Kiss, but her voice is better than I thought. I look forward to seeing her in the Sunday afternoon legend slot in about 25 years’ time.’
Dua said she had dreamed of headlining the Glastonbury Festival ‘all my life’ as she kicked off on the Pyramid stage.
The pop superstar opened her first headline performance at the British festival with impressive choreography to her hit Training Season from her third studio album, Radical Optimism, released earlier this year.
She told the crowd, “I can’t believe this, I’ve been dreaming about this my whole life.”
During her performance, the audience could be heard loudly singing along to the lyrics of her 2018 song One Kiss with Calvin Harris.
Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis said the pop star was “born” to headline the festival.
Although she did not directly comment on the war during her performance, in which she recorded hits such as Levitating, the singer at one point appeared to run into the audience to sing near a Palestinian flag.

Other celebrities seen at the festival included Alexa Chung, actress Anya Taylor-Joy and model Cara Delevingne. TV presenter Maya Jama was also spotted with her rapper boyfriend Stormzy.
Some fellow festival goers opted for crazy outfits to watch the performances – with one even hopping around as a kangaroo.
On Saturday, Coldplay were due to headline the Pyramid stage, their fifth performance at the festival.
Earlier, two show business veterans performed. Pop icon Cyndi Lauper performed hits like Girls Just Wanna Have Fun on the main stage.
And actor Russell Crowe dropped by on Friday for his debut at the festival. He played on the acoustic stage with his band Indoor Garden Party.
Rockers Kasabian were the secret act yesterday causing chaos after too many people flocked to see them having to close off access to the stage due to fears of overcrowding.
It is understood Glastonbury bosses have told partners to limit celebrity invitations this year amid fears the venture could ‘lose its down-to-earth roots’.
But no one seemed to have passed that on to chic pop-up club Soho House – which served sea bream for £34.
