The Mykonos ‘bar rip-off’ is back – the infamous DK Oyster restaurant is tricking Brits again with a £250 sea bass price, ‘accidentally’ charging customers twice the price and paying £50 for drinks!

A notorious restaurant on the Greek island of Mykonos is ripping off Brits again as customers complain about being charged £250 for sea bass and £50 for drinks.

Holidaymakers have been warned to stay away from DK Oyster as the company has received a string of bad reviews on Tripadvisor.

Angry punters say they were lured into buying a drink after being told the sunbeds were free, but the prices for those drinks were described as ‘insane’ and ‘exorbitant’.

The latest tourists to fall foul include Kimberley W, who was charged for four drinks at £47 each.

Kevin E called DK Oyster a ‘bait and switch thief’, initially telling him he could get a drink and a chair for £29, but later charging him £72.

Eleanor W said she and her partner were double charged after being told their card payment wasn’t working.

Meanwhile, Elise B said her mistake was ordering food that was charged ‘per ounce’, leaving her with a bill of £253 for sea bass and £100 for a large prawn that was ‘undercooked’.

Even then, she said, she was still overcharged, with £789 taken from her account, which did not match the receipt.

The restaurant, which has an average of two stars, has received only one star in each of the last 34 reviews since October last year.

Daniel D wrote on Tripadvisor on June 12: ‘Overcharged and very rude people. Don’t go there, they don’t show you the menu until you are ready to pay. You will see that the prices are crazy.’

Eleanor W also warned readers on June 12: ‘They will tell you the beach beds are free but then say you have to buy a drink.

‘Once you are seated, they show you a menu with drink prices so exorbitant that you don’t have to pay for a beach bed x 10.

‘They also said my card payment wasn’t working so we used my partner’s card to check the bank account and we got two transactions of the same amount at the same time. Shit.’

Elise B wrote on June 11: ‘TRAVELER BEWARE!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE’

‘We were told seats were free if you bought 2 drinks. We got two drinks and were cool because we understood we had to pay extra.’

But when they ordered food, they were furious, she said.

Elise added: ‘We were shown a menu but we didn’t see that they charged BY THE OUNCE for food! We had to pay €300 (€253) for sea bass and €119 (€100) for a large shrimp that was not cooked properly!

‘Not only did they not explain it, but we absolutely did NOT need a WHOLE FISH! And if we had known that, we would never have accepted it!

‘But we were also overcharged on our card by $1,000 (£789), which doesn’t match what’s on our receipt!! We only saw the charge when we left, but we will dispute that with our bank!’

‘This place is a scam and should be avoided at all costs. They charge too much for everything!

‘We didn’t read any reviews and were charged $60 (£47) each for 4 drinks. How this place still exists is beyond me.’

Kevin E called DK Oyster ‘bait and switch thieves’ and warned travelers to ‘be forewarned’.

He wrote on May 31: ‘Well… we messed up and didn’t read these reviews before going here and got scammed, just like many around us.

‘They practice bait and switch and block reviews on Google Earth. They say you get a seat for just one drink… but they refuse to tell you the cost.

‘It costs €30 (£25) for a small, €40 (£34) for a medium and €50 (£42) for a large. He offered us a med drink and chair for €35 (£29) per person, but they charged €85 (£72).

‘I am now going to try to fight it out with Mastercard on principle. Don’t go here. Warn others.’

On its website, DK Oyster is described as ‘the destination of luxury and style’ and ‘one of the world’s top destinations’.
