Huge brawl breaks out in Halls Creek, with 40 people wielding knives and stones, five of whom are charged

Five people have been charged over a violent brawl involving dozens of people in a remote Australian town.

A gathering that got out of hand caused chaos on Smith Street near Halls Creek, in the eastern Kimberley region of Western Australia, at 9.20pm on Friday night.

Police were called to the scene where approximately 60 people were involved in the gathering that had gotten out of hand, with about 40 people fighting.

Western Australia police said some were armed with knives, rocks, sticks, metal bars and bricks.

Officers broke up the brawl after deploying backup from Broome, Kununurra and Fitzroy Crossing.

A WA Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that proactive patrols continued throughout the night.

Five people will appear in court for a range of offences, including carrying weapons in a manner likely to cause fear.

Failure to comply with an order regarding an uncontrolled gathering was also among the charges.

Liquor stores in Halls Creek were ordered to close to combat alcohol-related violence.

The troubled city has become notorious as a crime hotspot.

In 2022, unruly teenagers stole cars, destroyed property and caused chaos in the streets, leaving residents too scared to leave their homes.

Groups of boys terrorized locals and bragged about their antics on TikTok.

Videos shared on the social media platform showed them driving through the streets in stolen cars, driving on the wrong side of the road and performing donuts.
