I’m a Full-Time Creator – Here’s All the Video Gear I Use – Video
Hi. So you want to set up your YouTube office? Okay. Let’s talk about that. I’ve been through this journey before and I have a few tips that can save you time and money and the first thing you need to do is not feel like you have to buy everything at once. What you want to do instead is start small and then upgrade as you go. Trust me, it’s a lot more sustainable. Let’s talk about all the cameras. I started with my smartphone and honestly, that’s still my go-to for filming on the go. I use an iPhone 13 Pro Max with a ton of storage. It’s great for capturing those spontaneous moments. Now, audio is super important. I love these wireless lavaliere mics. I found them on Amazon for around $40. They’re perfect for travel vlogs and interviews. Just clip one on yourself and the other on your guest and you’re good to go btw. There’s one thing I really want to mention when it comes to audio, always have a backup. It’s a must have audio has a tendency to fail. Even if you use these Bluetooth Lavale Mics they can drop the connection and what you’re left with is just blank and zero audio. So an alternative setup that I really like to use these days is to record raw video on my smartphone which I can then enhance later using AI like removing background noise. Additionally I’ll keep another smartphone as a backup recorder. I can just use the voice recording feature or if you want to upgrade I’d recommend the Zoom Recorder. It’s a bit of an investment but I think it’s worth it. For good audio lighting can make a huge difference. I use a mini led video light when I’m out and about, it’s rechargeable, powerful and only costs about $20. Perfect for those evening shots or dark environments and for my entire office setup I have a Sony Zve one camera with a couple of VX lenses but don’t worry if that’s out of your budget right now. I started with a Sony 8 6400 mirrorless camera. Every EIGA lens has served me well for years for home audio, I use the Newman TLM 103 microphone for podcasts and livestreams for camera recordings. I just attach a rote mic to my camera. Simple and effective. Now lighting at home is a little more elaborate. I use Elgato keylights mounted to my desk for Zoom calls and also livestreams. They are super adjustable and help reduce eye strain during legal recording sessions. And here is a fun tip. Try some LED lights to give your background some personality. Go make some affordable options that can really transform your space. Lastly, if you want to take your scripting game to the next level consider a teleprompter. I recently started using Garos Teleprompter and it has been a game changer. It is so easy to set up and use, even if you are new to it. But remember that all of this equipment is just tools to help you create. The most important thing is to have fun, be yourself, and keep creating. You’ve got this, I can’t wait to see what you come up with. Share it with me on Faceworld, wherever you find me.
