Tempegate’s Oaks Runner-by-Runner guide and reviews
Desert flower 4
Flower in bloom. Charlie Appleby’s fillyfeulen still has to taste the defeat in five starts and that point maintained a smooth success in the 1,000 Guineas on comeback.
She was a brilliant juvenile and took the mile of the group 1 with five lengths after the May Hill in Donny.
There is little doubt that she is the best angry in the race with Stamina, the only question mark.
She did not stop at Newmarket and is not a sharp species, so it will probably not remove her chance.
At first glance, her breeding seems to be screaming a mile and can play the soft land for more a resident.
Nevertheless, her class will bring her closer under William Buick, who is a jockey with a big race.
Elwatene 5
Teen Dream. We have only seen this daughter of Dubawi twice, but she has made a big impression.
She won in Kempton on debut in August before Saeed bin Suroor brought her away.
Her next outing was a really promising fourth in the 1,000 Guineas, where she certainly did her best work in the final phase.
She was a bit green when the pace was lifted and she will have learned enough before she was supplemented for this test.
Her mother remained 1m2f strong in soft soil, so there is every chance that she will enjoy this trip.
Saeed is now something of a forgotten trainer, but he has two oak victories from his Halcyon days, so know what it takes to win.
Giselle 3
Elle van A Merrieveeulen. She only had two rivals to beat in the Lingfield Oaks test during comeback last month, but did it with nine easy lengths.
She used the job, so it should also be good at Epsom. She is one of the few in the field who has no endurance and there is much more to come.
She scored on dead soil as a juvenile and has a lively opportunity for Aidan O’Brien.
Go Go Boots 2
Start off boots. Given that Oisin Murphy is on board for the Gosdens, she is a big price for everything she has to find in shape.
Her third in the Musidora in York was far from a shame last time.
She looked a lot on a work in execution on the Knavesmire and ran around a bit in the final phase.
That is not what you want to see before you tackle difficult Epsom and she looks more suitable for the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot next month.
Minnie Hauk 3
HAUK must fly. Ryan Moore’s choice of the Aidan O’Brien -Trio crossed the line with a lot left in winning the Cheshire Oaks on comeback.
She will certainly come for that run and will be guaranteed to see the extra furlong here.
Dealing with Chester often means that Epsom will also be fine.
On the negative side, she didn’t hit much on the Roodee, so she has to pay more form-way, although O’Brien-Lopers often take a big step for a run.
Qilin Queen 2
Queen will not be crowned. She is progressing well for Ed Walker and fought the last time completely to win a newbury -mentioned race.
That was on the Knik van Revoir that is also in line today.
That was more than 1m2f when she went from the front and so holding on that endurance can be a problem.
Anyway, it is a fair jump to win a classic about the current form.
Revoir 3
Applied. The line came too fast when she finished the second time with Qilin Queen in Newbury, but Ralph Beckett’s Merrieveeulen looks a hotter prospect.
She came home strongly, so it should be suitable by this step in distance and has improvement after just two starts.
In-form Beckett’s mares often stand up considerably for a run and she is immediately in the photo of every way.
Wemight -Takedlongway 2
Way out. Add an extra star if the soil drives really softly while enjoying testing conditions when winning a Navan Group 3 over 1m2f last time.
That was a major improvement of her efforts in the Ballysax at comeback, where she looked a mile of Oaks Standard.
She has a lot to find on shape, so it needs that downpour.
Watching 4
Give it a swirl. She is perhaps the best of the Aidan O’Brien runners after her easy Musidora victory in York last time.
That has been a useful pointer for the oaks and she had many links at the end of 1m2f, so endurance should not be a problem.
She seems to tackle every ground and seems capable of improving Wayne Lordan.
Templegate’s Oaks-Tip and 1-2-3 prediction
Saeed bin Suroor has had an elb of a chance in the £ 570,000 Betfred Oaks.
Elwatene (4,00 Epsom, nap) pulled the eye with a stopping fourth in the 1,000 Guineas and can bloom during this longer journey.
She will not mind cutting a bit into the ground and can get close to decent opportunities under Jim Crowley.
Desert flower Showed her class when winning the Guineas in Newmarket and will be difficult to beat when they stay at home – which is not guaranteed on the family tree.
Ryan Moore has chosen Minnie Hauk of the Aidan O’Brien trio, but there is not much between her, Giselle And Whirl who all have opportunities.
1st Elwateneen
2nd desert flower
3rd swirl
