Ben Cousins has again demonstrated how far he got, and surprisingly a departure West Coast Eagles Employee with a well thought out gift that fans and colleagues touch.
The former captain of West Coast, once considered one of the most troubled figures in the Australian sport, recently gave a personally signed boot to ticketing coordinator Jess as a farewell.
“Thanks for all your help, we’re crazy, I know,” said Cousins, surprised her with the gift.
“Thank you very much, I appreciate it, I hope that’s good.”
Jess, clearly surprised by the gesture, thanked him and said, “That didn’t have to do that.”
“It’s the least we can do,” Cousins replied.

The social media team of the club shared the moment and wrote: “A special farewell gift from Cuzzy to thank our ticket coordinator Jess for her time at the Eagles.”
Fans quickly flooded the comments and praised the act and continuous involvement of Cousins at the club.
“So good to see, because the club and look so healthy,” they wrote.
“He’s such a sweet person! So friendly and sincere, “said another.
“That’s great Ben, the very best Jess,” posted a third supporter.
Some could only comment on the physical condition of Cousins, a joke about a potential comeback.
“Get it on the list, looks fitter than when he was playing,” said one.
“So torn – give him a sweater from the west coast and bring it outside,” wrote another.

The moment has been followed in recent years a series of modest, generous gestures of cousins, which indicates a dramatic shift of life that once saw him hit the low point.
In May 2025, Cousins attended the memorial service for his former teammate Adam Selwood, who died at the age of 41.
He stood next to his Premiership teammates from 2006 in a show of unity and support for the mourning family of Selwood.
Cousins also visited shortly for friend Chass Guthrie in Brisbane shortly before his death of cancer and later shared a sincere tribute online.
In another moving story, a fan recently revealed that Cousins visited his seriously ill woman in the Fiona Stanley Group Hospital.
“Legend on and next to the field,” wrote the fan.
The past of Cousins is no secret. The brownnow medal winner fell out of grace after years of drug addiction, arrests and suspensions.
He was exiled in 2007 by the AFL and served a prison sentence in 2017 after a series of violations.
For a while he was more known for court performances than football height points. But since his release from prison in 2020, Cousins has committed himself to a better path.
In 2021 he made a withheld public return, appeared on the Brownnow Medal and later worked with 7News Perth as a border rider. He also joined the local football club Queens Park and started contributing to fitness programs for community fitnesses.
