Comic-Con 2024: Rings of Power Season 2 Has Sauron vs. Adar, Orc Destruction
It’s time to return to Middle-earth.
Today at San Diego Comic-Con, fans got an extended look at season two of The Rings of Power, the prequel series to JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. The series follows a younger Galadriel on a quest for vengeance against Sauron, a servant of the Dark Lord Morgoth who the Elves had just defeated in a brutal war. The end of season 1 left our crew with not three, but four magical rings in play, and many political alliances to make and mend.
Season 2 premieres on August 29, 2024 on Prime Video, and it will bring in some new faces to join our crew in Middle Earth, including Kevin Eldon as master dwarf blacksmith Narvi. A teaser trailer dropped in May revealing Sauron’s terrifying arrival, but fans flocked to Hall H to see a new official trailer.
CNET’s Aaron Pruner is on site at SDCC and reports that showrunners revealed tensions between Sauron and Adar, nuclear deployment, a massive orc battle, and giant alien creatures. Trouble also lurks in Númenor, and with the rings in play, power is up for the taking. Stream Season 1 and stay tuned for more of CNET’s Comic-Con 2024 coverage.
