Stream the Olympic Games with Peacock’s new interactive features

Live coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is set to stream on Peacock starting July 26, and the streaming service has added a host of new features just in time for this summer’s Games. Viewers will be able to watch athletes compete for medals in more than 320 live events, including breakdancing, boxing and swimming. In March, the streamer said it would introduce special features on its app for fans to stay up to date on the Olympics, and now three interactive features are launching on Saturday, just in time for some of the biggest events.

All coverage can be found in Peacock’s Olympics hub, which features “curated rails of live and upcoming events, dedicated in-depth hubs for nearly 40 sports, medal standings and an interactive schedule.” Viewers can navigate to the hub, which includes an All Sports rail, the ability to search by athlete, and these new features highlighted below.

All of the perks are available to every Peacock subscriber, whether you have the ad-supported Premium plan or the ad-free Premium Plus. And while the streaming service did increase its prices this month, we wanted to remind you that you may be eligible for a free subscription if you have Xfinity internet service or Instacart Plus.

AI-driven Olympic summaries

Combining AI technology with the voice of Emmy-winning sportscaster Al Michaels, Peacock offers “Your Daily Olympic Recap” to provide tailored recaps for fans. The feature works like a playlist that shows clips of the previous day’s biggest moments. An AI version of Michaels’ voice will run through the highlights for you based on the sports you’re interested in.

The app asks you to enter your name and select the top three sports categories you enjoy following, including “Extreme,” “Team Sports,” or “Artistic.” Users are also prompted to choose the types of highlights they want summaries of, with options like Viral Moments or Top Competition. This feature is aimed at fans who want to keep up with the Olympics on the go, but is available on the Peacock TV app, web browsers, and some tablets and phones.

Multiview function

Peacock Discovery Multiview lets you watch up to four events simultaneously on one screen. The feature highlights the biggest events of the moment, but lets you navigate between the games of your choice. While multiview is a feature available on streaming platforms like YouTube TV, what’s unique about this version is that it’s designed around the Olympics, offering “real-time on-screen descriptions” of key event details. Fans can learn what could lead to elimination and the Olympians’ standing as newcomers or veterans or medal status.

If you’d rather stream multiple matches for a single sport at once, that’s an option with the platform’s traditional version of multiview. According to Peacock, “four matches will be available on a single screen for sports like football, track and field, and wrestling.” The streamer says it’s the first platform to offer multiview across multiple devices, including smart TVs, media players, tablets, and web browsers. Once the Games are over, the feature will expand to other live events on the service.

Peacock Live Actions

With personalization in mind, Peacock has also rolled out a Live Actions feature, which should help viewers decide how they want to watch all of the live events and news coverage for the Olympics. The tool is available on certain types of programming, such as Gold Zone, which allows fans to jump between different live events or continue watching the current coverage.

Viewers will see on-screen prompts that guide them through different viewing choices for live feeds. You can watch the latest news and moments from the Paris Olympics and follow the events you choose.

The 2024 Olympic Games will air from July 26 through Aug. 11. You can read more CNET coverage about Olympic track and field training, sleep tips for Olympic athletes and what to watch.
