The 45th and now 47th president took the oath of office on Monday, promising a “common sense revolution.” Predictably, mainstream media pundits could not contain their horror.
There's nothing they hate more than good judgment.
“How does this happen in America?” complained MSNBC's Rachel Maddow before Trump took the oath of office.
“It is very difficult for me to watch this spectacle of the takeover of the United States by a base mentality of greed and corruption,” her colleague Joy Reid ranted.
The subtext of their comment: How could the American people be so stupid?
That tells you everything you need to know about why the left is in a total mess – nothing more than a dejected bunch of backward-looking, bigoted scolds, perpetually revolted by their fellow countrymen. And obsessed with creating stories that simply don't exist.
“Elon Musk appears to give back-to-back fascist salutes at the inauguration rally,” The Guardian headlined on Monday.
“Elon Musk fuels online speculation about the meaning of a hand gesture,” chimed the New York Times.

The unhinged attempt to brand Musk a Nazi for expressing his gratitude to the crowd at Trump's afternoon rally is proof that these liberal idiots have learned nothing – always ready to condemn, censor and even vilify.
Meanwhile, the Republican Party, at Trump's direction, has built a big tent — a tent big enough for RFK Jr. and Elon Musk and the average shift worker. For the students and the married women. For young and old. For both genders and all races.
Trump's Republican Party represents the broad middle of America – and its hysterical enemies are the people you slowly distance yourself from at a cocktail party. The entire ethos of the modern Democratic Party is blood-red faces, bulging eyes, and blood pressure cuffs, obsessed with vilifying Trump's character while never bothering to examine the flaws in their own leadership.
For years they have called Trump a corrupt con man. They were elated when a kangaroo court in Manhattan convicted him of 34 felonies in a case that should (and would have) never been charged had the suspect's name not been Trump.
Well, they should – finally – take a good look in the mirror.
Just minutes before Trump's inauguration, as Biden left the White House for the last time, his “no one is above the law” and “restoring the soul of the nation” rhetoric dropped a bombshell for the ages by issuing pre-emptive pardons almost his whole family.
Until the very end, Biden reminds us that everything he has said about Trump — that he is a corrupt, self-interested liar who is only interested in the presidency to profit from it — was more of an admission than anything.
As a disgraced Biden took off for the final time on Air Force One, Trump went to work in a nearby arena, firing off executive orders. The flurry of board activity on the first day is unprecedented. It also reminds us that Trump is at the height of his political power.
Beyond his gangsterish behavior, Biden's legacy will largely be defined as the president who ushered in a new Trump era of brash ambition.
His inaugural address was scathing. Only he would have the courage to denounce Biden and the defeated Harris to their faces in the narrow confines of the Capitol Rotunda.
Joe and Kamala had to sit there – stone-faced – and just take it.
Sorry, Rachel, that's what America voted for.

Trump's speech was not flowery or compelling in language; it was raw, resilient, determined and daring – a perfect reflection of what it means to be Donald Trump.
The promise of this new government is indeed enormous.
A presidency is defined by how the CEO responds to events and whether the president correctly interprets his mandate.
Biden failed on both fronts. He governed on the far left after promising to be a moderate, and almost always responded to world events with incompetence.
But with today's executive action, it appears Trump already understands his mandate.
Economic relief for the working class, order on the US-Mexico border, rejection of the far-left cultural fever swamps and restoration of American prestige on the world stage.
And for at least two years, his Republican Party also controls the US Congress – an opportunity, outside current orders, to translate his election agenda into law. Expanding tax cuts, reforming the immigration system and unleashing American energy production will all be on the menu for Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune.
Now, after the most incredible comeback in American political history, Trump is back to pick up where he left off.
