Bee WWDC 2025” Apple showed his upcoming MacOS Tahoe 26 Operating system for Macs, and under all AI fluff and shiny new Liquid glass design languageThere was a relatively small addition that could have a big impact (at least for me): clipboard history.
Now I am very lucky that in my work I am not just the Best laptops in the world, but also the Best MacBooksAnd although I generally love Apple’s modern range of desktops and laptops, I notice that I always come back Windows 11 for writing because of the excellent Clipboard history Function that can be raised by pressing Windows + V, so that you can easily browse previously copied items, instead of the last thing you copied.
Because the function has been added to Windows 10I constantly trust it, so when I use a Mac, meant the absence of the macOS function that I either had to install an app from third parties to add the functionality myself, or I would simply switch back to the use of a Windows machine, even if that machine would otherwise be worse than the Mac I left behind.
Stick in the spotlight
The fact that Apple adds the function to macOS (as part of an important overhaul of the Spotlight app) is very exciting for me, because it has integrated well into the operating system Must make it both more flexible and more convenient.
Say that Apple has stolen the idea of Microsoft is probably a bit strong – and I doubt that Microsoft first thought of this position – but it absolutely feels like Apple was inspired by the competition. From what I have seen, clipboard history in macOS Tahoe does exactly the same as the function in Windows 11, and it even has the same name.
Regardless of who copied (then stuck) that, if this allows me to work on my M4 Mac Mini Instead of starting in Windows 11 on an aging work laptop, then I will be very happy – and it can mean that my Windows 11 devices are only touched if I want to play a game.
I am looking forward to trying this new function, either in the MacOS Tahoe 26 Public betathat will be launched in July, or when the final version will be released later this year.
