It is time to discover the wave version of Bear Grylls, because the US will certainly be a case of survival of the strongest in Oakmont.
The 7,431 Yards Par 70 near Pittsburgh is not known for nothing as the beast.
Narrow fairways, five inch deep rough, greens with severe slopes that want to tear out your hair, on a race where half of the holes of FOP 50 is the most difficult on the PGA tour when it organizes a major.
It requires patience, discipline, accuracy and the ability to ride with the punches. So step forward Scottie Scheffler – although what’s new in it?
The USPGA champion and the world no. 1 deserve to be a strong favorite.
But 3-1 for a test that will prove a minefield for Scheffler and the rest, does not represent great value. So let’s try to find that value elsewhere.

Bryson Dechambeau Is this week second favorite on a best priced 7-1, and the defending champion makes a lot of attraction.
DCCHAMBEAU won the first of his two US Open titles on another course flanked by Gouge-IT-Out Rough-op Winged Foot in 2020.
His policy to ensure that he is fairly close to the green when he thinks that the rough stuff can again pay dividends. And the big bomber actually becomes a judge than four years ago.
After fighting in both the masters and the USPGA – making it five top six finishes in the last half dozen Majors – there is no reason to think that he will no longer be in the mix here.
Jon RahmThe final placement at the USPGA – a share of the 8th – did not reflect how well he played with Quail Hollow, especially in the closing round.
Rahm pulled a short level with Scheffler on the rear nine, before the need to keep taking risks, finally caught up with him.
The Spaniard was clearly the second best player to see. But he dropped out of the field by messing around a few shots at the end, although he was clearly deflated at the time.
There is a lot of talk that playing on the LIV circuit Rahm’s competitive advantage has stumbled. But he certainly looked for the USPGA. On 12-1 he also offers every way to be security.

Collin Morikawa Remains the most frustrating player in the game. It is hard to believe that he has held the world throughout the year, without winning anything.
His renowned laser-like accuracy should be a big advantage at Oakmont, so he still gets a chance because a few disappointing efforts have seen his chances float to 28-1.
A player who cannot be accused of under performance is Sepp sleek. He won twice this year and finished third at the Memorial at his last start.
Missing the cut at the USPGA was a blip that can be overlooked, and at 40-1 the Austrian is worthy of every way with a different in-form player in Ben Griffin.
Griffin followed a top ten in the USPGA by ending first and second in his two next starts. So a widely available 66-1 looks more than acceptable.
Harris Engels Played an excellent wave at Quail Hollow to claim part of the second behind Scheffler, and he attracted the attention again when he finished 12th at the monument. He is another straight shooter, so he also comes to 66-1.
And Davis RileyThe effort to match the finish of English at the USPGA seems to have been overlooked, probably because he is not the most consistent performer.
But it is not often that you see a player who has completed Joint Runner-Up on a major quoted at 300-1 for the next. So a small interest can work.
