An Australian news reporter has discussed the frightening Los Angeles riot.

ABC’s North -America Correspondent Lauren Day reported on the immigration protests, in California‘s largest city on Monday evening, when she was hit with the non-deadly chemical.

Day explained that the police had tried to spread protesters when she and her team were caught in the shooting line.

“This is really an example of how quickly things can escalate after a long impasse with demonstrators who have now started spreading the crowds, also with tear gas,” she told ABC News.

‘We are touched and you can see why the tear gas is called, it burns your eyes, burns your nose, your lips, your throat.

“It’s pretty unpleasant that I have to say.”

It comes after Lauren Tomasi was from Channel Nine shot with a rubber bullet fired by a police officer.

Tomasi had told the viewers that ‘the LAPD is going on horseback and fired rubber bullets on demonstrators when the shocking incident unfolded live in the air.

“It has been a really fleeting day in the streets of Los Angeles, and I want to show you the scene here tonight,” she told Nine News.

Tomasi revealed that she was in the center of Los Angeles, an area that had been cleared by the police.
