From Hazbin Hotel to Invincible, These 5 Favorite Animated Series Are Returning to Prime Video and Hulu Soon
We’re so used to hearing about shows getting canceled that it’s a huge treat to see great shows get renewed for new seasons. So the news from Prime Video and Hulu out of Comic-Con 2024 was a ray of sunshine for the streaming front, with five big announcements in particular.
First up is Prime Video, the Amazon streamer that has already ordered several seasons of the excellent series Invincible – the show is over Invincible season 2 earlier this year in March. And now there’s a fourth coming after another season got the green light – no, really. We’ve also had an official announcement confirming it, unlike when there were rumors of a secret renewal in 2022. We don’t even know when Invincible Season 3 will still air, but executive producer Robert Kirkman said Variety at Comic-Con that the next season will feature the infamous blue super suit from the comic books.
That’s not all. Prime Video also has a second season of Foodtopiaand not one but two new seasons of Hazbin HotelIf The Hollywood Reporter explains that it was originally ordered for two seasons, so Prime Video is doubling its order here. And Sausage party: Foodtopiaa spinoff of the 2016 animated film that premiered earlier this month as one of several new series on the platform, and was clearly successful enough for Prime to order a second season.
Comic-Con also provided a first look at the highly anticipated third season of The Legend of Vox Machinawhich I embedded above. It’s back on October 3. The first season was a successful Kickstarter , and Prime Video subsequently picked it up for season two, which premiered in early 2023 to widespread critical acclaim. According to Prime Video, “the stakes are high” in this third season: “The Chroma Conclave’s path of destruction spreads like wildfire as the Cinder King hunts for Vox Machina. Our beloved band of misfits must rise above their inner (and outer) demons to try to save their loved ones, the Tal’Dorei, and all of Exandria.”
And last but not least, Hulu also got in on the animated series announcement: it has ordered a sixth season of the adult animated sitcom Solar Oppositesand there will also be a Halloween special. Season five hasn’t started streaming yet – it premieres on August 12 – but it will once again center on Korvo, an intelligent alien scientist who hates Earth and wants to get away as quickly as possible. The upcoming new season will reportedly focus on family values, and it has big alien shoes to fill: season four currently sits at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
