The woman shared how she reduced her dark circles in a post on the Indian Skincare Addicts forum on Reddit.

CLEAR IDEA

She said her lifelong dark circles were her “biggest insecurity” and that’s why she tried everything to get rid of them.

“I’ve thought my dark circles were genetic my whole life because every woman in my family has them,” she said, writing under the name EnvironmentBox5289.

“It turned out to be a combination of iron and vitamin B deficiency, something every woman in my family has as a vegetarian.

“Even if you’re not a vegetarian, there’s a good chance you’re still deficient if you have dark circles. I can’t stress this enough.”

According to the Redditor, anemia and vitamin B deficiency are common among Indian women and dark circles are a side effect associated with the same.

She said it’s been a year since she underwent vitamin deficiency testing, which led her to start taking iron and vitamin B12 supplements.

She said her health has improved and her dark circles have “improved by 50%.”

“Last year I looked like I got punched in the eye, now they look a lot better,” she said.

“I hope they will improve even further with continued use.”

It covers my bags so well,’ beauty lovers rave about the $22 concealer that is ‘effortlessly blendable’ and ‘conceals dark circles’

She said her morning routine consists of hyaluronic acid, snail slime and lotion to keep the area around her eyes hydrated.

In the evening, she applies a drop of The Ordinary niacinamide serum and waits for it to dry. Then she applies CeraVe Eye Repair Cream and Reviva Labs Vitamin K Cream.

“Honestly, it took a few months, 7-8 months,” she said.

“Iron takes 3 months to appear in the blood, plus extra vitamin B.

“My honest advice would be: be patient.

“Now, a year later, my dark circles have improved by 50%. So it’s slow, but it’s definitely a solution.”

VITAL VITAMINS

Many people gave the post a positive rating and thanked the woman for sharing what worked for her.

“This gives me hope… Some dermatologists prescribed expensive creams, but they didn’t work,” said one.

“During the last consultation with the dermatologist, it was said that fillers are the only option I have.

“No one ever said anything about deficiencies, diet or blood tests.”

“Same problem… my left eye is more pigmented than my right eye, it looks like it’s been hit,” said another.

“Tested and found to be B12 and D3 deficient. Taking supplements and eating well has helped a lot lately.”

According to HealthlineVitamin B12 helps maintain healthy skin and hair, but too much of it can cause complications.

Symptoms of deficiency include fatigue, pale or yellowish skin, headaches, and mental decline.

Iron deficiency can cause fatigue, dizziness, pale skin and weakness.

If you suspect you have a nutritional deficiency, it is best to have a blood test done by your doctor.
