Mum saves on weekly shop at M&S which was ‘just £44’ for her family of 4
A MOTHER-OF-TWO has told how she now does her shopping at M&S after discovering it was cheaper than other supermarkets.
Nikita, from Cornwall, currently has a three-year-old and a one-year-old and is a housewife.
She said she had collected enough food for seven days, including dinner, lunch, breakfast and a few snacks.
Nikita bought two packs of chicken legs for £1.50 each, as well as a “huge selection of vegetables, some kind of potato, pasta” and she “usually” makes a sauce to go with it too.
Nikita also received two packs of minced meat, two packs of chicken and “some frozen pieces”.
When Nikita first enters M&S, she always goes to the meat department first so she can plan what she and her family are going to eat that week.

She enjoys cooking dishes such as curry, pesto pasta, bolognese, sausage pasta and homemade burgers.
Nikita’s shop also sold sausage rolls, Cornish pasties, breakfast sausages, beans and juice.
Nikita said: “All this food is to last until Sunday, we already had things like rice and pasta in the house. So I didn’t have to get any extra things.”
She continued: “This is just a general store for the week, for dinners, lunches and snacks.”
Nikita shared her shopping list on TikTok and had her viewers guess how much profit they thought they would make from her shopping list.
She subtitled the video: “How much do you think a whole week’s worth of groceries costs? Brands & Spencer cost?
I love their cleaning products – they smell so luxurious but the price is so much better than leading brands

“A complete shop like this would normally cost us £125 at Tesco or Asda.”
Many estimate that groceries cost between £75 and £100.
However, Nikita revealed in the comments that it actually only cost her £44.
She wrote: “We are a family of four and I can confirm that M&S is cheaper for us! This store came to £44.
“I can make a whole seven day shopping list at M&S for £80!”
Others praised M&S for being so cheap compared to other supermarkets.
One shopper said: “I’ve been shopping here for about 10 years and I can’t believe people don’t realise how good it is. It’s cheaper than expected. The quality is second to none.”
A second customer added: “I also go to Ocado once a week and it’s a mix of Ocado and M&S and some branded stuff too. The quality is much better and it’s no more expensive than Sainsbury’s.”
How to Save Money on Groceries
Experts in saving money at HSBC UK have revealed their top tips for saving money on your groceries.
1. Set a budget
Creating a budget will help you stretch your budget. Start by calculating how much you spent on food over the past three months, and then set aside a certain amount for food each month you get paid.
2. Plan your meals
Make a list of your main meals for the coming week, including the ingredients you need, and stick to it. Don’t be tempted by deals on things you don’t need. If you have some leftover food from the week before, try to see what you can do with it first.
3. Think about when and where you shop
It is best to shop on a full stomach so that you are not tempted. Shopping less often can help you think about what you are buying and can help you stay within your budget.
4. Go online
Online shopping is a great and easy way to manage your budget. It can also help you keep track of your spending while also preventing impulse purchases.
A third said: “We used to spend £150 a week in Tesco. But now we shop at M&S and spend about £100.”
A fourth complimented their cleaning products, writing: “Their cleaning products are the best we ever buy. I find M&S products last longer, taste better and last longer.”
And Nikita replied, “I love their cleaning products. They smell so luxurious, but the price is so much better than leading brands.”
