Kamala Harris' return to her Los Angeles home after being evicted from the White House wasn't exactly friendly.

The former vice president returned to California on Tuesday to thank Los Angeles firefighters for their efforts during the recent wildfires and for a homecoming after spending the past four years in Washington.

However, her neighbors in the infamously wealthy enclave of Brentwood – once home to OJ Simpson – were not particularly happy with her home.

“I'm ashamed that she lives here, and I'm ashamed that she represented the United States,” Lewis, a real estate investor who lives near Harris, said Tuesday.

With rumors that Harris could run for governor in 2026, he expressed his frustration with the Democrats already in power.

“Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom, they destroyed my state. Kamala Harris will do the exact same thing. “I would rather she find another state to destroy,” he said.

Another was outraged by the way the vice president — along with husband Doug Emhoff — made it difficult for those trying to get in and out of the area.

“I don't care if she's back, other than blocking the road when she comes into town,” said another resident.

Harris is under Secret Service protection for the next six months and four black SUVs were guarding her home on Tuesday.

She returned to California on a plane flown to Los Angeles International Airport by an all-female crew.

Harris — who vowed Friday that she would not “go quietly into the night” — and Emhoff then served firefighters' meals at a World Central Kitchen stop in Altadena, where much of the damage was done.

“We wanted to come out… and just let people know that we see them and that they are cared for,” she said, according to the New York Post.

Morlene Keller, an interior designer and neighbor of Harris, was much happier to see her, but had hoped for political reasons that she would not.

“I wish she was back in Washington, but I'm glad she's back,” she said.

Peggy Garrity, a retired attorney, shared these sentiments, but admitted that Brentwood is a very mixed neighborhood of liberals and conservatives.

“It's tragic that she's not in the White House, but it's a joy to have her as a neighbor,” Garrity said.

She added, regardless of politics, “People usually resent blocking Sunset Boulevard.”

“She's a good neighbor, but maybe she should just go back to private life,” said another anonymous resident.

In recent days, Harris has reportedly complained to close allies that she is disappointed that Biden has claimed in interviews that he could have won the 2024 election had he not dropped out of the race.

Harris is said to have expressed “deep sadness” over her loss and those close to her believe Biden's dubious claim that he won shows the “one-sided loyalty” of their relationship.

All this paints a very bleak picture of the outgoing Vice President, but apparently a dark cloud has followed her throughout her political career.

As far back as the 2010s, when Harris was California's attorney general, she was known for running a “toxic” workplace.

After she was elected to represent California in the US Senate in 2017, working conditions reportedly did not improve.

Analysis found that her office had the ninth-highest turnover of the 114 senators who served between 2017 and 2020.

Others who worked for Harris before she became vice president told the Washington Post in December 2021 that she often made “soul-destroying criticism” and acted like a “bully.”

Insiders say Harris isn't done with politics yet, and well-connected strategists in DC fully expect her to emerge as a presidential candidate in 2028 or make a bid for California's governor in 2026.

Additionally, NBC News reported Monday that Harris might do what many ex-politicians do: publish a book about her time in Washington.

But if Harris reenters the political fray, she may run into the same roadblock that thwarted her presidential ambitions this time.
