We knew that Cyberpunk 2077 Finally comes to the Mac, and developers -cd Projekt Red (CDPR) have been working hard – and are still – to get the title suitable to walk on one Apple Silicon-driven device. That means that the huge AAA title, which is often used to benchmark systems, can be performed on the M1 chip or newer.
It was re -confirmed at WWDC 2025 -Apple’s week-long developer conference-that it would arrive later this year, and back with the launch of the new Mac Studio, TechRadar saw a demo on that super driven computer.
But now I got the chance to get another demo Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition -A newer version of the title in the development-on a 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 Max chip and 128 GB RAM.
It was at ‘Ultra’ settings with a buttery smooth and well -displayed 120 frames per second. And yes, this version is derived from Apple’s M4 Max -Chip – not a discreet GPU required. Furthermore, this made full use of Apple’s Metal 4, later this year, including Metalfx Frame Interpolation.
It looked fantastic and was responsive, but that made me think about the plans to launch this on every Apple Silicon Mac.
I was curious about performance on less powerful chips within the Line -up of Apple, because the requirement for the title is expected to be Apple Silicon, which means that the basic M1, M2, M3 or M4 chips should perform, as well as the more powerful creations.
I asked Pawel Sasko, Associate Game Director of CD Projekt Red, what performance could look like on other Macs with different performance levels of different chips, such as even a MacBook Air.
He explained that for the first time Cyberpunk 2077 Runs on CDPRs patented red engine four, which is designed to be scalable. “It tries to use everything that the platform offers,” explained Sasko and shouted that the title is already available on various devices, including the Nintendo Switch 2 prior to the release on the Mac.
“Red Engine actually tries to check what hardware you have and squeeze out of the maximum that you can have,” he continued. That means that Cyberpunk 2077 Will work to run and deliver the best performance based on the chip you have. Sasko could not yet give a specific number based on the chip or a potential MAC SKU, but that is because the game is still not completed – CDPR is still working on it and polishing.
Sasko even shared that they will work until the end to optimize the performance, and recently thought CDPR how to optimize canvas, also known as what a character is wearing, to make it look better.
It is sufficient to say that he shared that “we try to squeeze everything that the hardware gives us”, which means that it will be best that it is possible on the Mac – which probably means that a more powerful chip, such as an M4, M4 Pro or M4 Max, will deliver the best results.
And the good news is that we are probably only a few months away from one of the largest AAA titles arriving on the Mac -the CDPR team would not give an exact time frame, but Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition Will arrive in 2025.
I also saw this demo of the title shortly after Apple had revealed MacOS 26 TahoeThat introduces the Games app. Although CDPR has not announced whether it will integrate with the new hub, it will work with the new ‘Game -Overlay’.
This is a sidebar that can be brought to the right of the screen, making it easy to switch on the game mode, adjust the brightness or volume and even switch controllers, and connect to friends. You can also choose to push your MacBook further with different energy modes.
