No, the new Siri is not there, but Apple’s iOS 26 is going to make visual intelligence much better and I can’t wait to use it again

As we expected, WWDC 2025 – mainly the opening keynote – came and went without a formal update about Siri. Apple is still working on the AI infused update, which is essentially a much more personal and usable virtual assistant. The editor of TechRadar at Land, Lance Ulanoff, broke the details of What causes the delay after a conversation with Craig Federerghi, here.
Now, even without the Siri infused by AI, Apple has a pretty important upgrade to the Apple IntelligenceBut it is not necessarily in the place you would think. It gives visual intelligence – a function that is exclusive to the iPhone 16 family, iPhone 15 Proor iPhone 15 Pro Max -A upgrade because the consciousness gets on the screen and a new way to search, all housed in the power of a screenshot.
It is a corresponding function for the original set of visual intelligence knowing how – a long press on the Camera Button (or adjusting the action button on the 15 Pro) draws a live representation of the camera of your iPhone and the possibility to make a recording, as well as “questions” or “search” for what your iPhone sees.
It is a kind of more basic version of Google -LensThat you can identify plants, pets and visually search. Much of it will not change with iOS 26, but you can use visual intelligence for screenshots. After a short demo WWDC 2025, I would like to use it again.
Visual intelligence makes screenshots a lot more useful and you can possibly save space on your iPhone … especially if your photos -app is something like mine and filled with screenshots. Apple’s great effort here is that this gives us a taste of consciousness on the screen.
Screenshotting of a Message Chat with a poster for an upcoming movie evening in the demo that I saw revealed a glimpse of the new interface. It is the classic screenshot interface of the iPhone, but the bottom left is the well -known “Ask” and “Search” on the right, while in the middle there is a suggestion of Apple Intelligence that can vary based on everything you have screenshot.
In this case it was “adding to agenda”, so I could easily make an invitation with the name of the movie evening on the correct date and time, as well as the location. In essence, it identifies the elements in the screenshot and extracting the relevant information.
Pretty neat! Instead of just making a screenshot of the image, you can add a usable event to your agenda within a few seconds. It also bakes in functionality that I think many iPhone owners will appreciate -even if Android phones such as the best pixels or the Galaxy S25 Ultra could have done this for a while.
Apple Intelligence will give these suggestions if it considers them good – that could be for making an invitation or a memory, as well as translating other languages into your preference, summarizing text or even reading aloud.
All very handy, but let’s say that you are scrolling Tiktok or Instagram Reels and seeing a product – perhaps a nice button or a poster that your eye catches – Visual Intelligence has a solution for this, and it is a kind of Apple’s answer to ‘Circle to search’ to Android.
You will be screenshot and then after it has been taken, simply scrub the part of the image you want to search. It is a similar effect on the screen if you select an object to remove ‘clean up’ in photos, but then you can search via Google or Chatgpt. Other apps can also opt for this API that Apple makes available.
And that is where this becomes pretty exciting – you can scroll through all available places to search, such as Etsy or Amazon. I think this will be a fan favorite when it is sent, although not entirely a reason to buy an iPhone that supports visual intelligence … at least.
Moreover, if you prefer only the entire screenshot, the ‘Ask’ and ‘Search’ buttons will come in. With that you can use Google or Chatgpt. Apart from the possibility of analyzing and proposing via screenshots, or with a selection, Apple also expands the types of things that can recognize visual intelligence further than pets and plants to books, orientation points and artworks.
It was not all available immediately at the launch, but Apple is clearly busy expanding the possibilities of visual intelligence and to improve the Apple Intelligence function set. Given this, this gives us a glimpse into consciousness on the screen, I am pretty excited.
