How to Finance Your Vacation with 6 Easy Jobs You Can Do From Your Couch and on Foot
THE summer holidays are finally here. But while the kids are having the time of their lives, many parents are wondering how they are going to keep up with the ever-increasing costs.
There is entertainment to attend to, hungry stomachs to feed throughout the day and time to spend together, whether that is on a caravan site or somewhere abroad.
Someone who knows something about this is Portsmouth mother Casey Major-Bunce, who has four children at home now that the school holidays are in full swing.
The well-known mother influencer regularly shares cost-cutting tricks on her Instagram page, @Majorbuncehome – and now she shows you how to make money from the comfort of your own home.

It really is a win-win situation for your wallet and the environment.
“Platforms like Vinted, eBay and Music Magpie offer opportunities to sell your second-hand stuff,” the financially astute mother told Fabulous.

Rent out your home
Earnings: £1,050 if you rent out your home during your week-long holiday
Are you going on holiday to the UK this summer or are you going to enjoy the sun?
Casey advised to see if you can make some money renting out your home, even if it is just for a short period of time. The money will add up.
”Use platforms like Airbnb to rent out your home while you’re away. Prices range from £150 a night to much more, depending on location and type of property.”
Online surveys and tests
Earnings: £40
By now, most of us have heard of survey sites. There’s a good reason why thousands of people are so excited about this easy way to earn extra income.
Casey said, “Websites like Free money.com ”Offers opportunities to get paid for testing apps, games and completing surveys, with an average earning potential of £41.20 depending on the number of surveys you complete.”
There are plenty of sites to choose from, such as QMee, LifePoints and ISay.
Most sites require you to meet certain criteria to participate in surveys, such as your location, age, or income. If you do not meet these criteria, you will not be able to participate.
But the more you try, the more likely you are to get approval to go ahead and make money from the couch.
Get creative
Earnings: £350
Do you have a hidden talent and are you blessed with a creative hand?
Why not do some crafting while the kids are playing and sell the items online?
The mum said: “Consider selling homemade crafts on Etsy, such as favours. These could fetch around £25.”
The possibilities here are virtually endless: from fun posters to art, jewelry, pots and cards, to name a few.
Part-time jobs in figures
An estimated 22.8 million Britons use a side job to supplement their income, according to new research from Finder.
Of those aged 18 to 23, 68 percent will have a part-time job in 2024.
The 24 to 42 age group is not far behind: 65 percent have an additional source of income.
Part-time jobs are less popular among older generations: 40 percent of 43 to 54 year olds have one.
While 23 percent of people between the ages of 55 and 73 earn extra money in this way, and only 7 percent of people aged 74 and older do.

Did you know that walking and staying active is not only good for your overall fitness, but also for your bank account?
It turns out you can burn calories while also filling your wallet, Casey revealed.
”Join apps like Sweat mint to earn money simply by walking. Users can earn up to £9.50 per day and have the chance to win prizes such as Apple watches and Amazon vouchers.”
Rent tools
Earnings: £1,680
“In today’s sharing economy, homeowners are increasingly realizing the financial benefits of renting out their underused tools and equipment,” Casey said.
”If you own a lawnmower, pressure washer, steam cleaner or sofa cleaner, you have a fantastic opportunity to turn these items into sources of passive income. Imagine renting out each item for just £40 per day!”
To ensure a smooth rental experience, the smart mom advised asking for a security deposit before handing over the equipment. This deposit is refunded once the item is safely returned.
Additionally, if you have a vehicle, you could consider offering a delivery service within a 15-mile radius for as little as £10.
“This added convenience can make your service even more attractive.”
When promoting rental properties, Casey advises looking at platforms like Facebook Marketplace, where you can generate significant income.
‘For example, if you rent out just one item per day for six weeks, you could potentially earn an impressive £1,680.
”Take this opportunity to earn money with your tools and help others in your community at the same time!”
Total income: £3,753.
