In the past year I tested a new coffee maker here at Techradar and there have been some real gems.
The Jura J10For example, is a fully automatic powerhouse for making hot and cold drinks with the push of a button, while the manual Smeg Mini Pro To be honest, beautiful and excellent for consistency.
Anyway, how many other machines I try, but there is only one on my countertop at the end of the day: the Gaggia Classic Pro.
It is a very popular small manual espresso machine, and not for nothing. It is very nice to use, it is the dream of a craftsman – and with around $ 500 / £ 400 / au $ 800 it is also moderately priced.
There is a lot to be found in this machine. In our Gaggia Classic Pro ReviewWe stated that it is a “good looking, well -built device” and that “it turned out to be super easy to brew intense, flexible espressos with very little experiment.”
However, when new, Lady Gaggia (as we call her home) is not without her peculiarities.
For example, there is no mass space between the porta filter and the drip drawer, which means that you can only fit under small cups below (I usually use a bulb glass with measures printed on the side). Moreover, the tray is so narrow that you can forget to place a bowl underneath to weigh the coffee while it drips.
There is none PID -Controller To keep the temperature stable, as you also get in a number of premium coffee machines, and the small boiler of the Gaggia means that you might no longer have steam before you finish preparing your milk.
The advantage is that there is a great community of hobbyists who tinker with this hugely popular small machine, share advice and even sell kits with which you can change it to your heart – such as the example in the Reddit post below.
Guys, I finally made the upgrade to a pid of barista gadgets. by R/Gaggiablassic
For example located in the US Barista -gadgets and UK site Shades Sell longer drops that are suitable for a bowl and shallower drawers so that you can use a larger cup. There are also devices that constantly add a small amount of water to the boiler, so that you can continue to steam milk for longer without running dry.
Shades of coffee makes and sells heads for the machine steam arm Also, plus colored lighting kits to illuminate the water tank, so that you can see the level more easily (and it looks like a gaming pc). And if your gaggia still doesn’t look cool enough, you can even pick up a wooden button to replace the plastic that controls the steam pressure.
