It is official. Following one teaser earlier this week, Oakley and Meta have made smart glasses, and as the owner of the almost two -year -old Ray-ban meta smart specifications, I am green with jealousy.
Later this summer, six pairs of Oakley Smart specifications will be available in the US, the VK, Australia, Canada, Ireland and various other European countries, starting at $ 399 / £ 399 (we are still waiting for Australian price data).
Limited-Edition Oakley Meta HSTN (with golden accents and 24k Prizm-polarized lenses) will be previously available for pre-order-from 11 July-for $ 499 / £ 499 (again, we are waiting for Australian prices).

Why am I jealous? Well, to begin with, these smart glasses are set to have a few important hardware and software upgrades over my Ray bans.
First an upgrade to the camera is. The Ray-Bans have a built-in 12MP Snapper that can capture the Full-HD (1440×1920 resolution) video on 30 fps. Meta promises that these Oakley specifications will record Ultra HD (3K) video, so that they might be alternatives to the Best Action Cameras For people who want to record their sports stunts and look good.
Secondly, they can record longer with a reinforced battery life. My Meta Ray-Bans have a battery life of four hours for ‘standard use’. They can play music, Meta Ai can answer the strange question and they have to last for so long; As soon as you start making videos, their battery will drain much faster
With the case that she charges, the Ray bans can be used for up to 36 hours of total.
Meta doubles the built-in battery of the glasses with its Oakleys and promises that they last eight hours with standard use and 19 hours if they are standby. Meta adds that you charge them at 50% in just 20 minutes with their business and said that the charging case has up to 48 hours of load.
Finally, the AI of Meta will still be able to answer various questions for you and use the camera for context for your questions, as we have seen in the Ray-Ban Meta Smart glasses, but it will also get new sports-related knowledge.
Golfers can ask for wind speed, while surfers can check the surfing conditions and you can also ask the glasses for possible ways to improve your sports technology.
As with all these promises, we want to test the Oakley Meta HSTNs for ourselves to see if they are realizing the hype, but a way we can already see that they are excel on the design side.
Damn, these things are beautiful.
Interesting is that the Oakley Specs design choice is a big detail that the leaks have done wrong. Instead of the shades in sphaera vizier style, it is the HSTN glasses of Oakley (I was told that it is pronounced how Stuhn).
These glasses look like more angular Ray-Ban Wayfarers knowing you, one of the existing Smart Glasses designs from Meta But they do have a serious design upgrade for athletes that you will not find on the non-Oakley specifications of Meta: Oakley’s Prizm lenses.
Without becoming technical, Prizm lenses are designed to offer a greater contrast with what you can see. There are various models for snow sports, bicycles and other sports (as well as daily use), but each is designed to emphasize important details that can be relevant to the carrier, such as the contours in various snow sites, or transitions in trailing types and possible traffic risks.
If Prizm lenses sound like overkill, you can also get a few with transition lenses or with completely clear lenses.
I exchanged my always beaten Ray-Bans for a few with transition lenses, and the difference is grim. Because they are clear in dark environments and are in the shade in brighter weather, I have found it so much easier to use the transition lens as everyday smart glasses. Earlier I could only use my shady pair in the sun, and that doesn’t come out too often.

In addition to the style and the lenses, a striking factor is that despite some serious battery upgrades, the frames do not seem enormous.
Just like their Ray-Ban predecessors, they are clearly thicker than normal specifications, but they don’t look too much in contrast to normal hues.
All in all, this Oakley glasses look really impressive. I am about to try a few, and if you have been on the fence about picking up the Ray-Ban metatam glasses, these improved options can convince you to finally get some AI-driven glasses.
