Horror while nine aussies race to the hospital after a ‘scent of gas’ is detected in a recreation center

Nine people were taken to the hospital with more than 40 swimming pool users who were overwhelmed by chemical vapor in a leisure center in the north Melbourne.
Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to Triple-0 calls in which the ‘scent of gas’ was reported in the inside of the Brotmeadows Aquatic & Leisure Center on Friday at around 6.15 pm.
Firefighters came to the scene within six minutes to find several people affected by chemicals, a spokesperson for FRV told Daily Mail Australia.
The crews helped ambulance Victoria treated patients on the spot and nine people had to be transported to the hospital for further treatment.
The spokesperson said that Hazmat specialists who wore breathing equipment found a positive lecture for sodium hydrogen sulphate.
The fabric is placed in Polish to lower the pH levels and to ensure that it is safe for people to get into the water.
The FRV spokesperson said that 200 people were evacuated from the recreation center, while the specialized team brought the building.
The operation was completed at 8.16 pm and FRV confirmed that it was safe for people to re -enter the building.
Hume City Council, who operates from Broadmeadows Aquatic & Leisure Center, told Daily Mail Australia staff immediately, according to procedures and evacuating the center.

‘After a thorough assessment by Worksafe it was confirmed immediately after the incident that the facility was safe to reopen on Saturday morning.
“The council has launched an internal assessment to confirm the cause of the incident and to ensure that it does not happen again.”
Worksafe Victoria investigates the incident and shared a statement with Nine news On Saturday.
“Worksafe inspectors are present and monitor the workplace to ensure that health and safety risks are sufficiently tackled,” said it.
A parent has said that the incident has made the ‘anxious’: ‘(it is) so that we think about monitoring the children for the rest of the day (and past) the weekend.’
The pool was reopened on Saturday morning as usual and he claimed that the center did not inform customers about what had happened.
“It is the responsibility for the pool management and management of the (Hume City) Council to let people know at least,” he said.
