A teaser -trailer of 76 seconds for the upcoming Saipan film was released -and has met a mixed reaction from Irish football fans.

Éanna Hardwicke is cast like Roy Keane, while Steve Coogan plays Mick McCarthy.

The trailer shows the remote island in the Pacific Ocean that ran in Irish Football Schande, while a flaring row between the two led to the captain of Ireland played no role in the World Cup 2002.

We hear both actors in character and of course enough their voices are raised in almost every excerpt.

Atmospheric news bulletins have also been read to get home how this was a story that dominated and back over the entire Irish media landscape.

76 seconds will never be enough to make a worthy judgment from a film, but the prevailing debate point that hit Hardwicke’s appearance.

Several fans expressed their concern that, regardless of how skilled from an actor he is, he simply does not look enough of Keane to fully inhabit the role.

Paul noticed: “As expected, Coogan McCarthy nails, but at least they could have tried to cast an actor with a sort of resemblance to Keane.”

Similarly, Michael added: “That guy doesn’t look like Roy Keane, he looks more like Vinny Jones. I mean, Roy Keane is who lives, just had to have the man himself.”

Moreover, Steven expressed his anger by quoting Keane’s most famous slogan.

He joked: “It doesn’t seem like they can do their work, be foolish like Roy Keane and Mick McCarthy !!”

However, not everyone immediately cast a pessimistic eye based on what they saw from the cast and the wider film performance in the show.

IFB Media posted: “Entain to see this! The Saipan incident is/was one of the most division in modern memory and it is not even close.

“What could have been at Roy will never be known, but it is sad when you consider that since the 2002 tournament we have not returned to the World Cup. 2026?”

Philip also sounded enthusiastic about it when he pulled a parallel between the Flashpunt World Cup and an equally important historical event.

He tweeted: “I can’t wait for this – the trailer gives Cuba rocket crisisvibes.”

The production behind the project – Wild Atlantic Pictures – was involved in the award -winning Kneecap film and Cocainebeer.

It still needs a precise release date, but will be in cinemas for some time this summer.
