- AMD’s MI400 GPU is expected to offer 432 GB HBM4 on 12 memory stacks

AMD recently unveiled Instinct MI350 series GPUsBut the bigger news is what the chip giant has planned for 2026.
The company is preparing an AI platform of the next generation with the Instinct MI400 GPU, EPYC “Venice” CPU and an important shift in rack design with its Helios infrastructure, an extensive, double-wide configuration aimed at scaling performance and bandwidth.
The MI400 GPU is expected to send with a maximum of 432 GB HBM4 memory, built with 12 stacks of 36 GB HBM4, based on numbers divided by micron and memory per GPU estimates of AMD’s rack capacity.
A direct answer to Nvidia
This would be a considerable jump of the 8-stack setup of the current MI350, making it the right track to rival NvidiaThe coming Vera Rubin platform.
In addition to the MI400, AMD is planning to debut its 256-core EPYC “Venice” server CPU, built on a 2NM process with PCIE Gen6 support and up to 1.6 TB/s memory band width.
The platform will also contain the Vulcano 800G NIC and support open standards such as Ualink and Ultra Ethernet for improved scale connection.
AMD says that the Helios Rack and MI450 GPU will offer the MI355X performance up to 10 times, and it positions it as a direct answer to the accelerated route map of Nvidia.
Sam Altman appeared on stage at the recent advancing AI event of the company alongside AMD’s CEO Lisa SU to emphasize OpeniThe early interest in the new platform and says, “I think it will be great.”
Although the hardware only arrives in 2026, AMD’s Preview uses the tone for what a fierce race with Nvidia could be.
The Helios rack may not have an official name yet, but it is clear that AMD thinks bigger – and wider! – While it is moving to the next generation AI infrastructure.
