Vice President JD Vance may be first in line for the most powerful job in the world, but it wasn't until this week that he got a glimpse of the Oval Office.

It was a whirlwind week for the 40-year-old vice president as President Trump began his second term.

On Monday, Vance was sworn in as second-in-command.

On Tuesday, he was virtually speechless when he walked into the commander-in-chief's famed office for the first time.

The moment he entered the iconic hall full of history was all captured on camera.

Speaker Mike Johnson, who met with Trump and Vance at the White House that day, posted on X the video of Vance walking into the Oval Office.

“When we gathered for our meeting at the White House yesterday, JD Vance told us that he had never visited the Oval Office before. I told him and President Trump that I had to capture the moment on video,” he captioned the video.

It showed Trump walking down the hall of the West Wing, with Vance walking behind him as staffers stepped aside.

They were then led into the Oval Office by Trump's longtime aide Margo Martin.

“Wow,” Vance said as he walked into the room and took it all in.

'It's quite crazy. Wow,” he laughed.

Trump then turned around and asked his number two if he had never been to the Oval Office.

Vance looked somewhat bewildered as he took in his surroundings, confirming that he had never been to the office before.

“This is unbelievable,” he said in disbelief.

Before being elected vice president, Vance served as a senator representing Ohio for almost two years.

But it appears he never received an invitation to speak with Democratic President Joe Biden during his time in Washington.

“Only in America can a hard-working young man from Appalachia rise from his humble circumstances and enter the Oval for the first time as VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES,” Johnson added.

Although Vance had never been to the Oval Office before, he was one of the first new administration officials to see the changes that have taken place there since the shift from Biden to Trump.

The office makeover took place in just a few hours during the inauguration activities and included a series of changes from the carpet and portraits to personal decorations and a Diet Coke button.

Top Republicans gathered there Tuesday afternoon as they strategized to jump-start their agenda with a newly installed GOP trifecta.

But his visit to the Oval Office wasn't Vance's only big first this week, as he carried out one of his most important duties as vice president: swearing in Trump Cabinet members and new senators.

Vance took the oath of office before Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday after becoming Trump's first Cabinet nominee to be confirmed by the Senate.

He also participated in the swearing-in of his replacement representing Ohio and Rubio's replacement representing Florida in the Senate, Jon Husted and Ashley Moody.
