LinkedIn Adds Company Page Verification to Really Make Your Business Stand Out
Getting your business noticed on LinkedIn just got easier thanks to a new verification tool from the platform.
The corporate-focused job board has announced that it will add a new way for companies to show that their Page is an official representation of them on LinkedIn, in a move the company hopes will help curb parodies and imposters.
With the new Business Page Verification tool, users will see a verified shield-shaped checkmark on their page, next to their logo, to let them know it’s real.
LinkedIn Verification for Company Pages
“We know that authenticity is key to creating meaningful interactions,” said a LinkedIn blog post noted when announcing the launch. “A verification badge on a LinkedIn Page helps signal to members and customers that this is an official page for the organization, and in turn helps the organization build trust with its audience.”
Some lucky businesses are pre-approved and will see verification badges appear on their Pages within a few weeks. Admins who want their Pages verified can submit a request and join a waiting list for possible future verification.
LinkedIn does note, however, that waitlists are reviewed “periodically” and that submitting a request to be placed on a waitlist does not guarantee success. The company does note that it plans to expand the availability of verified badges in the coming months.
The company says that “multiple factors” are taken into consideration when determining whether an organization’s Page is legitimate enough to be verified (or not). This includes the accuracy of “certain data points” on the Page, such as its location and website URL, an active Page admin presence, and compliance with certain LinkedIn policies.
The launch is LinkedIn’s latest effort to improve the user experience and ensure job seekers connect with the companies they want to target.
It follows the recent introduction of user verification in May 2023 and ‘Verification for Jobs’, which provides users with additional information about a verified job poster. This is part of the aim to have 100 million verified members by 2025.
