In the creepy abandoned resort on the Maldives – with rotting upper water villas but still breathtaking views

The world may know the Maldives for its photo postpostcard villas, turquoise waters and one-off luxury escapes.

But an island in the middle of this tropical paradise tells a completely different story – one of decay, mystery and ambitious plans left behind.

In one video uploaded to YouTube In 2023, the Australian filmmaker and surfer Bale Brock explained that he and his group had seen a ‘mysterious’ island in the distance during the retreat in the Maldives and had convinced their guide to bring them there.

What they discovered was directly from a film – more Jurassic Park than five -star luxury outing.

In incredible images, which has since collected more than 180,000 views, Brock takes viewers on a surreal tour through an abandoned resort that looks like it was being evacuated halfway through construction.

Grie-Scenes show that the group is wanders up by half-finished villas, piles of rubble and broken toilets, dilapidated rooms with non-driven generators and dark, unkempt swimming pools full of algae.

According to Brock, the island is said to be owned by a prominent Maldivian politician, with construction started more than ten years ago.

Brock runs through the ruins and records everything, from unopened spa equipment that is still in boxes, to massage tables covered with dust and junk, to dirty pools thick with plant life.

Standing above what a center -pool pool would have been, Brock added: “Imagine the views and the vibes, the aesthetics that this place would have.”

In one place the group finds an old Mazda and Nissan, who don’t seem to have moved in years before they continue What a generator room seems to be, complete with a bizarre row of machines.

Brock mentioned a number of Hollywood -Blockbusters that he was reminded of while exploring the ruins, including Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park and Lost.

But perhaps the most ghostly part of the Tour were the spooky remains of what the show stoppers of the resort would have been – overwater bungalows intended to ask $ 5,000 per night.

Now they are nothing more than skeletons made of wood and steel, with scenes that show Brock along the concrete foundation of what an iconic wooden walkway would have been.
