A CHILD expert has issued a major warning about the ‘absolutely shocking’ truth about children enjoying swimming.
So if you are lucky enough to be going on holiday this summer, you will want to pay close attention and take notes.
Amanda Jenner, an international expert on potty training and toddlers, shared her urgent warning online, leaving many surprised.
The TV and radio expert demonstrated a simple swimwear test on social media and showed why parents should not buy their children blue swimsuits.
The author shared her clip with the caption, “Absolutely shocking. Sharing this in case any parents don’t know!”
She continued: ‘Today I did a test with a light blue swimsuit on a swimming pool on the floor and couldn’t believe how well camouflaged it was.

‘Visibility is essential if you want to keep an eye on your child in the pool or other body of water.
‘When buying, consider the color of your swimsuit… this knowledge could really save a little life’.
As Amanda pushed a blue swimsuit to the bottom of a pool, where it was barely visible, she explained: “The right color swimsuit can save a life.
“I did this test today to show how invisible the color blue is underwater, making a child much harder to spot in an emergency.”
Amanda did the same, but in bright orange and lime green swimwear.
The view was much more vibrant, as she added: “Look how hard it is to spot the swimsuit compared to the bright colours, especially with the splashing in the water.
“This could really save a life.
“Think carefully before you buy this summer.”

Tips to keep children safe in the water
IF you’re going on holiday this year and want to keep your kids safe in the water, here are some important things to look out for.
- Constant supervision:
- Always keep a close eye on children when they are in or near water.
- Avoid distractions such as phones or books.
- Learn CPR:
- Take a CPR course to be prepared for emergencies.
- Make sure any caregivers or sitters also have CPR skills.
- Swimming lessons:
- Register children for swimming lessons that are appropriate for their age.
- Encourage them to practice regularly to build confidence and skills.
- Use life jackets:
- Ensure children wear U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets when boating or near open water.
- Don’t rely solely on inflatable toys or swim rings for your safety.
- Drafting water regulations:
- Set and enforce rules. For example: no running near the pool, no diving in shallow water, and only swim under adult supervision.
- Safe swimming pools:
- Place barriers around pools, such as fences with automatic closing gates.
- Use pool covers and alarms to provide additional security.
- Inform about water hazards:
- Teach children about the dangers of drains and suction points in swimming pools and hot tubs.
- Explain the risks of natural water bodies such as currents, tides and underwater obstacles.
- Stay hydrated and protected from the sun:
- Make sure children drink plenty of water and take breaks to avoid dehydration.
- Use a water-resistant sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.
- Buddy system:
- Encourage the buddy system, where children swim in pairs or groups and make sure they look out for each other.
- Check water depth and conditions:
- Check the depth of the water and be aware of any hazards before allowing children into the water.
- Please be aware of the weather conditions and avoid swimming during storms or strong currents.
By following these tips, you can significantly increase the safety of children in and around the water and ensure they have a fun and safe experience.
