My Grandma Didn’t Get Wrinkles Until She Was 60 – Her 2 Tricks to Staying Young
A skincare addict reveals the two tricks her grandmother used to keep her skin wrinkle-free into her 60s.
She said her grandmother defied the signs of aging and lived to be 91 years old.
She shared the secret to the fountain of youth on the Skincare Addiction forum on Reddit, which has nearly 4 million members.
GRANDMOTHER’S TRICKS
She said there are many factors to consider when it comes to aging, but it is possible to prevent wrinkles even after age 40.
“My grandmother, who lived to be 91, didn’t really start getting wrinkles until she was 60,” she wrote under the name LaceBloomers.
“Someone once asked her what her secret was and she replied, ‘Garlic and homemade soups.’”
She didn’t say whether her grandmother had a favorite soup recipe.
However, garlic is an inexpensive ingredient that can be finely chopped and added to almost any dish.
A bag of fresh garlic costs just $4.38 at Walmart.
According to HealthlineGarlic has “antifungal, antiviral, and antiseptic properties of allicin.”

The ingredient also contains zinc, selenium, copper, vitamin C and vitamin B6.
B6 is known to keep skin healthy by boosting collagen production, while vitamin C is widely used in anti-aging products for its ability to neutralize free radicals and fight UV light damage.
According to the Redditor, it’s impossible to “control” genetics, but lifestyle factors can be adjusted to keep skin youthful.
“No smoking!” she said.
“Wear sunscreen, cover up when you can, and WEAR A WIDE-BRIDGED HAT.
“Eat a rainbow: Choose fruits and vegetables with deep colors, such as broccoli, carrots, beets, mangoes, romaine lettuce and other dark green leafy vegetables, blueberries, cherries, etc.
“Fruits and vegetables with a deep or bright color contain more antioxidants than others.
“We need antioxidants to neutralize the free radicals in our body.”
