Valve has released a new one Steam Customer update with which players can easily follow the performance of their games.
As explained in a new one Blog postThis update adds an overlay of performance wakes and is “designed to help you understand how your PC performs and how it influences the performance of your game.”
In contrast to the previous frames per second (FPS) counter that can be switched to appear in the corner of a game, this new function will check the frame speed values, but also generated frames of Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) or FidelityFX Super Resolution versus in -Game.
There are four monitoring levels with this overlay, including some FPS value, FPS details, FPS details, CPU & GPU use and FPS, CPU, GPU and RAM.
“It can show you at least/max single frame values and a graph of frame speed over time,” explains Valve. “Moreover, it shows you CPU performance information, gpu performance information and information about system memory use. This data can be useful to understand the causes of poor game performance, whether it is a slow CPU, GPU or too high graphic settings that register more than your video or system RAM.”
When enabled, the overlay appears at the bottom of the screen, but players can keep the display small with a single FPS value or expand to display the full details when debugging a performance problem.
Players can freely adjust details live in-game, color saturation, text size and background coverage, to their taste, show a graph of FPS over time and a graph of CPU use per core.
To make the new performance -overlay possible, users must go to Settings> In the game and scroll down to the new Performance overlay Section. There they can change the position of the overlay, take a shortcut for easier access and more.
Valve also said that it has plans to add extra pieces of data to the performance overlay, “to detect certain common poor hardware performance scenarios and to show a greater summary of the performance of your game in the overlay yourself when you go on Shift tab.”
