A woman who thought she got a lot while booking a $ 7 hostel was left shocked when she saw where she would sleep.
Fiona Strack, 25, originally out Germanyhas been traveling full -time since August 2024.
While they backpacking all over the world in the past year, she has not become stranger to booking cheap accommodations in an attempt to lower costs.
When she came across a list for a hostel in Manila, Philippines, on a popular booking website that was only $ 7 for one night, she was ecstatic about the low price.
It had good reviews and the photos looked ‘okay’, so she went on and booked it … but as soon as she walked into the hostel, she immediately regretted her decision to stay there.
It looked more like a dog kennel or a prison discelon than on a hostel, with moving bars on the outside of each bed.
Her sleeping quarters consisted of a small mattress on the floor, a pillow, a thin blanket and a fan.
It was tested with walls around it and a metal gate that could be locked from outside or inside.

The bathroom had a removable shower head, a tap to wash your hands and a toilet without toilet glasses.
“I booked it online via a popular booking website, the reviews and the photos were okay, so I just thought to go for it,” Fiona explained exclusively on the Daily Mail.
“I came in and immediately thought:” This feels more like a dog kennel than like a hostel. “It was tight, dark and frankly a bit shocking, but it was completely booked. ‘
While Fiona said she considered in the beginning, she explained that it was late and that she was exhausted from a long day of travel.
Moreover, she knew it would only be one night, so she decided to grin and look it.
“I absolutely considered leaving and I would probably do it if it hadn’t been so late at night and I hadn’t been so tired since I just arrived after a long travel day,” she wore.
‘[Also] As a low-budget backpacker, it is not really an option to pay for one night. ‘
She said she ‘tried to make the best of it’ and used humor to cope with.

“When your budget backpacked a little too hard,” she wrote in a text overlay while a clip showed her in shock, before she turned the camera to show off the hostel.
“I’m still not sure if it was a hostel, a dog shelter or a prison,” she joked in the caption. “But hey, $ 7 a night and I had WiFi, electricity, a fan and a clean towel.”
Fiona told the Daily Mail that she was ‘so tired’ that she ‘fell asleep immediately’.
But she said she had been transferred and it became most of the night for fear that someone could lock her in her little closet.
She added that she had no ‘soothing night’ and was very happy to leave the next morning as soon as she woke up.
“Knowing that someone could easily lock my door from outside with another padlock, let me wake up after every sound I heard,” the backpacker shared.
“It wasn’t [really] But dangerous, just extremely uncomfortable, loud, very hot (no AC, only a fan) and rather surrealistic.
