Spotify and Apple’s AI Blind Spot: The Velvet Sundown is a warning of the dangers of AI music

The first time I heard Velvet Sundown album Dust and silence On Spotify I thought to myself, hmm, that’s not so bad. It affects many of the notes that I am looking for in music that I can listen to in the background while I work: acoustic guitar, beautiful singing, chill beats and a soft psychedelic atmosphere from the 60s. There is only one problem: This band may not exist.
The velvet sunset is suspected of being a tire generally generated by AI. Despite the posting of photos of his band members Instagram And X.com Accounts, the photos look very fake. In fact, they look exactly when they are made by AI.
It is very difficult to prove definitively if the band is fake, but the evidence comes on: the photos look fake, there is no evidence that the band members really exist, and the music sounds like it could have been generated in an AI music tool, such as Suno.
Known YouTube Musician Rick Beato even has one Episode about the bandBreaking out his songs in individual songs to see if he could see if it was AI-regenerated. His opinion? Yes, that’s it.

Upcoming tour
The tire Account on X.com is non -free that the band is real and makes his own music, even promises a upcoming live tour! A post from the band says: “This is our music, written in long, sweaty nights in a tight bungalow in California with real instruments, real spirits and real souls. Every agreement, every text, every mistake – every mistake – person.”
I contacted the band and they have sent me back and say they like to answer questions, except that as soon as I suggest a video interview, they immediately haunt me. It feels like the one behind the Velvet Sundown, the rest of us very trolls for publicity by pretending to be a real band, and as this article shows, it works.
Yesterday the Velvet Sundown had 470,000 monthly listening on Spotify. If I look at the page today, they went to 634,000. That is a lot of income that is derived from real bands that have actually made their own music and to a band whose music is created by AI to be trained on the material of other people, usually without attributing.

What is interesting is that both Apple And Spotify likes to stream the music of the band while it is not marked as AI. Do we not earn the paying gamblers to know if the band we listen to is fake?
In fact, the Velvet Sundown is one of a number of recent ‘bands’ that a huge Maas in the great music streaming services such as Apple, Spotify and Amazon Music: they have absolutely no requirement that AI music is marked as AI-generated.
Interesting that the smaller streaming service Deezer does, and it has used its own technology to identify the music of the velvet as AI-generated, and it marks it as such.
The velvet sunset is not the only bond suspected of being AI-regenerated (other suspected tires include Stellar Cruise and the Luna Lounge), but we are only at the start of this problem. Music streaming services are about to be flooded by AI-generated content and they must act quickly.
I do not want to send all the lean cent that generate music flows nowadays to a band that does not exist if there are many struggling artists who need real support. Perhaps this whole mess of Apple and Spotify will lead to reconsider their policy when marking AI music and to get a magazine from Deezer’s book, because I think it should be their responsibility to tell us, their paying customers, as the music is listened to, is ai-generated or not.
Whether they are real or not, after the success of the Velvet Sundown, an absolute flood of AI music on the road will now have been realized that it is an easy way to generate income, and Apple and Spotify don’t mark it as such. And the next generation AI bands will probably be a bit smarter about hiding the fact that they are AI-regenerated.
