Champion Jockey Oisin Murphy guilty of driving after he had beaten his Mercedes in a tree.

The 29-year-old was charged last month on the same day that he drove a double Royal Ascot.

Murphy appeared on Reading Magistrates Court today where he pleaded guilty of one count of row a motor vehicle while the prescribed limit of alcohol.

He was not asked to argue for another count of not collaborating with a provisional test along the road.

Murphy has now received a fine of £ 70,000 from JPS and has not driven for 20 months.

The jockey crashed his car in a tree in Hermitage, Berkshire, on April 27 this year just after midnight.

He had driven a treble in Leicester the day before the crash.

Murphy, who grew up in Killarney, Co Kerry, was crowned British Jockey four times – in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2024.

He was one of the winners on the Doncaster Racecourse who supported Racing Staff Week -Handicap last week.

Murphy also rode five winners on Royal Ascot earlier in June.
