A former liberal senator was taken to her own party after the leak of an e -mail from a newly chosen colleague.
The e -mail, sent by Senator Jess Collins and made public on Thursday, reveals her avid opposition gender Quota and her frustrations with internal party divisions.
In the message, Collins claims that quotas are not necessary, insisting that candidates should be chosen for merit.
She pointed to the NSW Staatsliberals that reached gender parity without formal mandates.
Collins also focused on ‘factional hacks’ that she claims to hold on to power within the party.
Appear Sky NewsFormer Senator Hollie Hughes, who lost her chair to Collins in the preselection of 2024, did not hide.
Hughes said that she received a flurry of messages that morning about the leaked e -mail from Collins – in which she specifically ‘does not leaks’ her colleagues – and most of them spot in tone.
Hughes said she was ‘surprised’ that the message was aimed at internal departments instead of what Collins hoped to achieve and to keep the Albanian government to account.

Hughes said it was special that Collins ran a platform of expertise in the field of Foreign Affairs, but did not report foreign policy in the E -mail.
Hughes, who listed her own work on senate committees and shadow portfolios, Hughes wondered how Collins’s campaign for ‘on merit -based’ selection is stacked.
“I’m not sure how I missed that when it came to merit,” said Hughes.
Hughes then hit Collins about her role to fire her during the battle with the preselectation.
“What gave me a smile, when a woman a sitting female senator of shadow portfolios and claims, A. Merit and B.” Van B. “I support women,” she said.
During a panel discussion, journalist Joe Hildebrand asked how Collins was selected and whether fractional support played a role.
Hughes responded with a sarcastic shot: “How did she get there?” She said, before she burst out of laughter.
